Poll Question:
HOMM4 style avatars.
With the help of Xenophanes from a previous thread I got the idea for HOMM4 campaign style avatars.
Would you like Homm4 style avatars instead of the avatars available now?
Or have the avatar you have now changed to the style of HOMM4?

Too hard on the eyes. I am begging you, please do not change from the standard rectangular icons used here, because not only are they damned ugly, but they are hard to see and cover up lots of detail!!!!

perhaps make entire community a bit more round? i heard Lith-Maethor is a good graphic so maybe if he has spare time???  so the o dont disturb around the picture. yeah, a round design would look very pretty!

...I'm still working on making transparent, matted non-rectangular images or whatever, so that it looks right against the background/s...but as for rectangular stuff, if you want something with simple edits I can probably do them for you, or you could try your luck with more advanced edits...and with creating stuff, if you're looking for objects, scenery and that kind of stuff, there's a fair chance I can create something decent for you...though the dimension restrictions here do seem to be a bit tight
...but if enough people are truly interested, why not just have both availible to those who want them.
...though those borders seem a bit unnecessary...a solid black border or something should work fine methinks.

I think the problem is that whatever program Sir Elric's using is "fuzzy-ing" the borders and their respective avatars. If you take them directly out of the game...
Check out my geocities website...I have a decent edited round portrait...

The round ones are actually quite nice. Maybe using different colored borders instead of just the gold ones would allow a little more versatility.
Very nice work on them though.

Only custum avatars are round..
To get this Avatars you must have atleast 200 posts and in those posts atleast 2 QP

You mean with the portrait editor that I was talking about? Most likely not. Most likely he just took a normal portrait and added in the avatar as a circle...
But then again, I'm not Sir Elric!
(I'm not?! Oh boy, I'm getting forgetful... )

No, I took a screenshot form within the game from the EXP/Gold screen, as this is the largest border shot, then cut the border out with the EMT (Elliptical Marquee Tool) in PhotoShop6.
STEPS
1.Open a new sheet set size to around 150 by 150 pixels and contents to transparent.
2.Create screenshot and crop border section to around 120 by 120 pixels.
3.Drag this to the tranparent sheet
4.Working on the border layer, set the Style of the EMT to Fixed size till you get the appropriate size of the border.
5.Select and Inverse the selection then delete the surrounding area.
6.Set the Style of the EMT to Fixed size till you get the approriate size of the center and delete this too(remember this size for later).
7.Now crop the whole thing down to the size of the border and save as a PSD file leaving the border with a tranparent background, this is the template.
8.With the new border template still open find a picture you like use the EMT set to Fixed Size(make the size of the new picture slightly bigger than the center), drag this selection to the border template.
9.Now go to layer and select arrange then send to back now you can manoeuvre the picture behind the border till it looks right.
10.Lastly go to File and Save for Web save as a 32 colour GIf file to minimize the size.
*Note - Remember to keep the border template for future pictures. Don't save over it or it's back to step 1 again heh heh
There is probably an easier method than this but it works for me.
