Where is a blood & violence?

Dont you missed a blood in heroze? Just imagine, how balista stabs fat dvarf.. Blood splats around and dvarf crawls on the ground in agony, surrounded by his own splatted blood.

Or another dream : black dragon breath his fire on couple squires... Just see how fast they can run , screaming at pain, see how they try roll on the ground..

Crusader chops orcs or trolls head

Ancient Behemoth splat leprechauns , so that bloody limbs will sprinkle over all battlefield..

I have to say that I find it very refreshing to play a game without the excessive blood.  I have enjoyed the HOMM series from the very beginning when it had the cheesiest of graphics.  I found it highly entertaining because of the gameplay it offered.  I am a long time gamer that has been doing it basically from the beginning in the monochrome era.  My greatest dissappointment in the gaming world is the continual drive to have more eye candy in a game.  I will admit that I find good graphics a wonderful addition, but so often gaming companies spend too much time on gory details of violent graphics and forget the most important part of there job, producing a game.  If I wanted to see a great deal of eye candy I would go out and see a plottless movie that seems to be in abundance at the moment.

Personally, I am very glad to see that 3DO has not fully succumbed to the eye candy culture and has put continued effort into improving the gameplay.  IMO graphics should be seconodary and gameplay should be primary.  Enough of my tirade about eye candy and back to topic.  I just don't think such graphic representations are necessary.  I believe that the more we try to make the violence in games and movies too realistic the less able we are to separate the fantasy from the reality.  Now don't get me wrong, I am not against violent games.  I just have a problem with gratuitously realistic violence.

Well i disagree in some case. Just take a look at heroze IV. Just open it's map editor, and see how much multimedia 3do guys created. Animated trees, lots of stuff, etc. Sure it adds visual appeal, but.. they forgot to finish game.

I have also thought something like this: blood and intestines bleeding on the ground, colouring the snow to red, green, yellow and blue, snow/ice that is melted or grass that is burned by the fire spells... but then again, I don't want this game to have a K-15 label on the game. That wouldn't do good on the sale and I want this game would be played by children too.

I dissagree with you pig. I dont miss the blood and violence. its refreshing to have a game without them. And dont forget that it could be damaging for children to play only blood and violince games.

All of HoMM's reincarnations were gore-free. IMHO violence and bloodshed will ruin the whole game.

If you're interested in gore, you've got lots of action games and shooters- UT 2003, being a great example of ridicuosly bloody, or SoF2, or Max Payne (I know it's a bit old, but still a great game), if you want your violence realistic.

Giving this thread a new life in the Altar of Wishes.  If there is a similar thread already at the Altar, this one's at your mercy Djive

Do we need more blood and gore in the Heroes series?  Personally I don't think so, and would like Heroes V to be as blood free as the previous versions.  But as the posts above indicate, opinions vary.  What do you think about this?

no big deal

I think it's comprimisable. It wouldn't ruin sale's if there was a secret blood code either. We'd get that one real quick, and have the option to use it or not.

IMO, I dont care. Would I use the code? Sure why not.
I wouldnt restart the game on day one, because I forgot to enter it (if that were the case)

I actually wouldn't mind some more damage being shown. I think it would be interesting. Just the thought of it reminds me of Star Wars 4: A new hope, where Chewwie and R2D2 are playing that chess-like game for some reason.

i believe in overrealism. that's what h4 suffered. in fact, i preferred the graphics in heroes 3 because it was clean, like a chess set, and the out of scale buildings meant that you got more done in a day. for heaven's sake, this is a turn based game. why add realism when the concept itself is unreal? blood and gore is for action games. the thrill of HoMM is the strategy and not the satisfaction of blowing your enemy into tiny little bits (well, not entirely). besides, who here admits to being a core addict to heroes and still wants blood and excessive gore?

There is always violence in Heroes games after all there is fighting going on

As for blood.  Certainly not that would mean more graphics and more animations as well and lets not forget one thing.

Heroes of Might & Magic should be played as
Heroes of Might & Magic.

Not

Mortal Combat or doom etc

Heroze could be bloody game. As anybody said here, Heroze takes part of medieval ages. So think again - medieval ages means brutal ages, ages of wars. So this proccess must be displayed correctly IMO

sure, heroes COULD be a bloody game. but we don't want it to be a bloody game.

HoMM is a fantasy game. not a documentary. historical accuracy does not mean more enjoyment.

and what makes you think its set in any age?

medusas and minotaus were from the classical greek age. so were troglodytes and pegasi and titans, for that matter. and nagas were from indian mythology, not medieval European.

I don't see the point. Mario's using a water pump (in the
last game, that is) and don't  tell me someone gets
hurt by a spray o' water.  (Assuming it isn't some kind of
acid.)
