That's an easy one! You: the person who is being addressed.

But seriously, the drivel that those kinds of shows are which seem to be the picture of American society is reflective only of the shrewdness of the broadcasting business to post something they think people will watch. It is sad that those shows have become so popular, but I doubt many people with more than a couple teeth take them seriously at all.

Call a spade a spade, you learnt the "art" of genocide from the English and Spanish, exploitation makes it sound like you just moved them about a bit

Ever heard of the Trail of Tears?  They were moved around a bit. At least that must have been how Andrew Jackson passed that through Congress.

On which many many died, as I said, Genocide. No different from the English/British genocide earlier, or the American genocide later under the glory of such greats as Jackson, Jefferson and even (shock horror!) Washington.

edit: I assume soon you'll learn the art of quoting the entire point and not a small part out of context to make a rather way out point wolf?

I don't think Wolfman was saying the Trail of Tears was no big deal.  I think he was saying that "just moving them around a bit" can be just as bad if not worse than just slitting people from neck to nuts.

I Am Obligated To Respond

I feel I am obligated to respond because I'm from the same area as our president. That might be why I have vowed to never return. Regardless,

I must explain three things:

1.George Bush sr. is one of our country's greatest men. No man is perfect but he did a damn good job upholding the true values of the Constitution. He was top of his class graduating from college. He is a veteran of world warII. He was F.B.I. director and later ambassador to China. Vice president and president were simply names of office for him as he was sure to come through as the American Hero he has always been for us. Whatever struggles plagued his presidency are miniscule in comparison to his life's work as a protector of American ideals.

2.George Bush jr. is in no way his father. He is not the hero, academic example, or foreign relations minister in any way.

3. My gramps lives in a place called Monahans,Tx. My mother grew up there and I have been there, lived there, and worked with people from there. It's not far off from the president's home town. Our president is an average man; normal by any standard. I know his type of person well. There are a lot of those people in that area in every aspect of town life. They walk down the street, work at the stores, and teach in the classrooms. This is a man who doesn't communicate personal feelings well so he tries, ignorantly, to get you to understand his feelings by indirect uneducated means. There are a lot of farms and ranches out there. His 'out-of-touch' attitude begins to make sense now doesn't it? Our president doesn't really ignore our foreign policies. He just doesn't understand. He was brought up to think: 'yup neighbors er over ther and I live here'. He's human and he wants to do the right things like his father always did but he never took the time to find out his limits. Every man has limits. To know them is to be able to exceed them.

4.These policies that we are seeing and ideas of war are just that, policies and ideas. Nothing in our government works without a go-to person that makes things happen. Dick Cheney is a ruthless politician with an angry disposition. His job is to babysit George jr. I think he hates it. One might compare this relationship to LBJ and J.Edgar Hoover. Except they were friends.

Bush's comments on International Law

Today when asked what he thought about breaking international law with his policies in Iraq President Bush responded by saying,

"International law?  I better call my laywer."

1. Does the world view the U.S. as a law-abiding country?
2. Might this be an indication of what he plans to do in the future planning of Iraq?
3. Where is the honor in flexing muscle as a global superpower?

Are Americans stupid?
Most probably not. We’ll all agree that it’s stupid to say that genetically a nation is stupid. But it is possible that the American society does tend to produce stupid individuals. You are all aware of the so called American culture (Jerry Springers, Johnny Noxviles, Justins, film stars and all that obsession about them, TV-shows, stupid films and songs, advertisments) which is spreading over the world. This is only a part of the American culture, but unfortunately this part is what most people in the world perceive as what America is. In my opinion, there are people who like this snow all over the world (a majority) and it makes them just as stupid as the Americans who made it. So it would probably be more correct if I say the majority of people in the world are stupid. Stupidity knows no boundaries.
Another point would be the education the average American has. It’s clear that some of the best universities in the world and some of the brightest minds on this planet are located in America. It’s also clear that the iliteration ratio in America is very low, compared to other countries which claim to be “smarter” than Americans. But if you take an average American teenager, even an adult, and compare his general knowledge with some Russian or Japanese guy, than I think that the average American will score less than this other two. America, being a developed capitalist country as it is, has an educational system where it’s imperative that the person is a “gear” in the “big machine” so that it can be up and running. The goal-more money. That’s why people who are specialized in the area of e.g. medicine, don’t know who Tchaikovsky was, or where Greece is, or how to solve an equation etc. This is the direction where the whole world’s going, I believe.
3 years ago, I won a scholarship to study in an elite American high school in my country, but when I saw their program (a two-page picture of a shark, simple equations in the entire book), I said no, thank you. And the scholarship was 20.000$ for 1 year. Not an easy thing to decide, having in mind the economical situation in my country.
The American system has the capability to produce the greatest as well as the smallest minds on the planet.

Is Bush stupid?
And how can we tell? Maybe he is and maybe he isn’t, but one thing’s for sure: you cannot judge by the political decisions he makes, because there’s a whole team behind him. Some people (including me) believe that the administrations which come and go have very little with the global policy which is lead. Some very important figures stand behind the scene and decide the future of this world. It’s not Bush, that’s for sure (God help us if he was the one). I’m a Marxist and I believe that behind every action there’s the financial background. It’s not revenge or stupidity the reason why Americans invaded Iraq or Afghanistan. It’s the sole lust for money or global power. Even if we can’t see the effects now, they will surely come. A place for criticism and rage against America’s policy undoubtedly exists. But it’s an imperialist policy, not a stupid one.

Ever summer we see them....the American tourists.
Sorry....the Irish/American tourists, come back to see their 'roots'
I live in Belfast, in the north of Ireland. Dublin is 100 miles away. Americans still ask 'Do you know my grandmaw in Dublin?' They seem to think Ireland is one big long street, all thatched cottages and pubs with violins and tin whistle music, leprechauns and rainbows with a pot of gold at the end. So no missus, I don't know your granny, she lived 100 bloody miles away!
I'm not stupid, so I know Americans in general are not stupid, but if I had to go by 100% personal experience of American people (not including TV, and Oh yes we've all seen the Springer type shows) then I would have to say Americans are typically dumb.
As for George Bush, he has to a little bit smart, he's managed to have the Prime Minister of Britain trained like a lapdog and brought to heel whenever it suits. But there are to many George Bush/Chimp lookalike pictures out there for me to ever take him seriously

Please Explain

Quote:

I don't understand this comment. If you are a Marxist then financial background is irrelevant to the community's interest. Marxist authors make clear that "labor" is the commodity of interest, not financial background. Marxism says to achieve his theories through revolutionary or dictatorial means. If that is true then what does the financial background have to do with anything? I also don't understand the term "Russian". What geography does that cover? Some people say "Soviet" is incorrect. I will do more research but the information from someone who lives there is also just as valuable as the research sometimes.
