Heroes of Might and Magic IV Elite Edition
Ok, what's the scoop with the Elite Edition? Is it just HoMM4 revamped? Is it HoMM4 + Gathering Storm + Winds of Change expansions? Or something else? I've been looking around lately for some clarification on what it is exactly without any luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
P.S. I've been out of HoMM4 for sometime and looking to restart the addiction, er game..

"By the way the only difference between the Elite and Standard Editions is that the Elite Edition comes with one-year free access to the Might and Magic Guild. This is where you're supposed to be able to talk to the designers, give feedback and possibly input into new titles. Right now and since March 28 the only thing there is a new scenario for you to download. So I'd save the extra 10 bucks and wait a year before joining."

I imagine the guild deal is gone with 3DO and it sounds like it was never worth it.

Thanks for the information guys! I appreciate it. I guess what I'm looking for is an edition that has the two expansions wrapped into it. I've also heard about a platinum edition? Would that have it? I'm trying to get everything at once instead of buying two separate CDs if possible.

The company that produced H4 is out of business.
They didn't release them all in one package before going belly-up, so don't expect it soon.
Keep your eye out for Ubi-Soft, they bought the rights to the Heroes Series, and they might capitolize on the franchise with some sort of compilation at some point.
So far though, they haven't said anything public on their plans.

Bummer. Thanks again for the info. At least I'll have another addiction soon (with the 2 expansions). Of course my girlfriend probably won't like that, but heck. It's HoMM darn it.

there isnt much to the expansions.. so before you pick them up look into wether or not it would be worth it.
most of the changes you can get on heroes sites, they include patches and a couple new units. i think if you get equilibrium it comes with the new units.
and you can get maps elsewhere too.

Well, Winds of War for $20 was worth it for me. It makes it so a lot more maps actually work, and had some semi-interesting, but short, campaigns.

1. Warez questions are prohibited.
2. So-called 'Elite' US edition CDs are fully identical to Standard HoMM IV Edition US CDs (both are released March 6, 2002). There are absolutely no differences between these edition nowadays.
