Anybody know how wide, short map pictures are done?

I've been reading the Mongo campaign on MMPortals.  I see pictures rather like http://www.mmportals.com/h4/image2/campaign14map3snap1.jpg.  My question is, how do map pictures come out like this?  The maps themselves are square...

it is either a screenshot or a picture edited with photoshop or paint. Strange, I received something like that when I got a map from the net.

This is what you get as a bitmap dump when you use the nwcExcalibur cheat code in the game.  The file is quite large, but you can crop it down and make it a JPEG like the one above.  Obviously, the titles were added later.

Where does the file appear?  And why does using a particular cheat create that picture?

The file appears in your Heroes IV directory and it's called entiremap.bmp.  It creates an image of the surface you're loooking at, so switch to the underground if you want an image of that.  It was probably added to the cheat code list because it's the only way you can get an entire screenshot of the whole map.  Just be warned that it can take a long time to render (you'll see your hard drive light on for a while and the screen will lock up), and you'll need a good image editing program to open and manipulate it.

Thanks, I tried that, and that image did appear.  My god, it was huge!  It did take a while to open up in Photodhop, but I was able to then scale it down to a manageable size.  Thanks!
