The Sports Café
Well seeing as how this didnt work out the first time, im recreating it. Please dont spam this one up!
So i figured we needed a place to discuss all sports.
Baseball, Football, Soccer, Basketball, Hockey, Xtreme Sports, Golf, Nascar (yuck!) Hell, even bowling if you like it! The NBA, NFL, FIFA, MLB, NHL, w/e you want to discuss, its all here..
So who's ready for football season? I sure am!

yea im ready. i missed the highlights down here in australia. i usually watched them but now there is just athletics
anyone see wimbeldon final between federer and roddick. man was federer crazy. he did the most outragous shots like a slice lob still he could do no wrong. i think at the end of the first set he had 17 winners and 1 unforced error.
so did anyone see it?

Im not talking about the rest of the world football, im talking about American Football, u know with the Quarterbacks, Linebackers, etc..tackle,

Yea, so far.
But anyways, About the Eagles - i think they will at least make it to the Superbowl, hopefully McNabb wont screw up again, and T.O wont be injured.

Alright I'll try to help - would it shock anyone to learn that I'll be talking about hockey? 
For those of you who don't know, the NHL was locked out all of last season, and they've finally come to a deal which should be ratified by Friday.
Now generally the draft order for the new season is dependant on teams standing's at the end of the season - but because the NHL had no season what they're doing is a lottery. If you wanted to know how the lottery is run, click here to see.
Thats fun enough, but its not like some little tiny church lottery - this is for the most hyped hockey player in years - this is for a kid who without having played a single NHL game, is already raking in millions on sponsors.
This is a big deal!
Not only is that interesting, but the new CBA has completely changed the financial picture for every hockey team - this means we could see some pretty intense team restructuring And on top of that, the way the lockout happened left a number of players in limbo as they were free agents, right now not signed to anyone - so what will happen with them?
A year without hockey was a year of pain, but there are so many things happening to make it exciting right now, that I forgive em 
Yay for Gary Bettman!

I hope the new economic system will allow cities with great fan base to come back! Teams like Winnipeg and Quebec would be a riot to see back! Im sure the folks from Winni are on the edge or a mental breakdown!!
... but as far as the lottery goes, we all know that Crosby will end up in MTL!!!

Who watches it? Anyone want to debate on the "fakeness" of it?

wrestiling, yes i remember that. i only watched it once, and that was a special show. about what u say? how they fake it all. it was a great show i remember today. it showed how they make things look worse than they are and how they make themselves bleed.
at my school there is a teacher who likes wrestling and he said they HAD to make it fake in order to protect ppl from broken arms and legs and such

as mentioned above.. scripted not faked, very important that the difference is noted.. Most of the moves are still actually used on one another, how ever they no how to land to refrain any injuries from occurring, however cuts and bruising is always going to happen. Wrestling is ok, i used to love it, but for some reason i have become bored with the fact that it is usually pretty obvious who is going to win, and so it takes excitement out of it.
Now im an aussie, and all aussies love football! im talking AFL, the sport where the crows are no. 1!!! lol i love watching, and also playing footy, and im sure there are many aussies who love it too. After all it is a known fact that aussies love their sport..
PS if there are any poms reading this, bad luck about the cricket, we didnt mean to get ur hopes up about the ashes.. what did you expect, us to stay bad all series? lol we r just getting warmed up...

Wrestling is like a soap opera now... sure it has a script... sure they're entertainers and maybe even considered actors... but it's fake because it's not beleavable... and the speeches are forced... there's no conviction in the acting anymore. It's drama with wrestling on the side.
that's what I mean by fake...
(I saw the legion of doom put a guy on his shoulders as the other guy jumped from the top rope with a close line... poor dude semi-circled and landed on this neck.
looked real and painfull.... back in the good o'l days!!)

Well its always been scripted, back from the 1980's when Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, and Ultimate Warrior wrestled. The only difference in the last 5 years, is the wrestlers themselves had creative control over what they said and did in the ring. In 2000, a creative team was introduced to the WWE, and now they tell them all what to do.
But, as in the last 5 months, its gotten..way more interesting.
And i heard the most ridiculous thing the other day, Wrestlers use fake blood...Ha.
