I just got rid of red terran within first 30 minutes or so, perhaps that's why I find it easier than 8th... .

Oh, so you're the speed-run type.  I always play the conventional way, rarely relying on destructive rush attacks.  But wouldn't devoting the first half hour of gameplay to wiping out Red leave your main base vulnerable to the remaining colors?  Plus, Red's base is rather large and would require a LOT of under-upgraded Hydralisks to take on (especially without expensive Guardian support).

Then again, it must've been worth it if you managed to pull it off.

I would say that just about every game I play now goes unfinished. I really can't remember how long it's been since I finished a game, but I bet it's been at least 2-3 years.

I think I've just gotten kind of burned out on games, so I constantly jump from one game to another. It takes a good game to keep my attention for more than a few days. Heck, I have lots of games I've never even installed.

That's why I never bought H5, I just couldn't justify it when I knew it would just go in the stack of games that never got played, or played very little.

Actually I found the last zerg mission easy. Mainly because you get the adrenaline glands right away. Just kill the nearest protoss bases in the beginning (in 5 minutes) and it's like a walk in the park. They have enough resources to batter Mengsk in to oblivion. The UED won't give you any major trouble. A few cruiser now and then maybe few goliaths and marine+medic strikes but because they come in a nice line and not grouped you can take them out easily. Few hydras and maybe a lurker or two are enough.

8th was a major headache because I didn't expand fast enough to the main enemy island. I had to improvise an all aerial strike force which had a decoy (few mutas, hydras and a devourer) and a main strike force(ultras, ovies, mutas, few guardians) + templar squadron (ovies, templar, scourges and hydras). Decoy took the magic, strike force drove a wedge into the enemy defences,  eliminated the overmind defences and created a living wall between the templar and the main enemy force.

Edit: But I consider myself to be somewhat good in this game though. I remember teaching my friend to play it. He was just too slow. Plaing some C&C Tiberian Dawn or Red Alert on fastest will make that problem vanish.

@guitarguy
I did not use hydras, but air units(few mutas and devourers, several guardians). I noticed red was vulnerable to such attacks. Besides Mengsk had nukes, and I didn't like it .
I am not a rush player and I like to develop. But when I see a major hole in enemy's defese, I attack. That's always one less to go.

@JoonasTo
I did not try to get rid of the protoss first, but can be also an option.
I consider myself good at StarCraft as well, but no. 8 can be a pain in the @$$.

We're kinda spamming aren't we ?

This kinda mirrors what happened to me the second time I attempted Zerg mission 8.  I wiped out the two enemy bases adjacent to my starting location and then sent Guardians and Hydralisks to the central island and destroyed the Terrans there.  Unfortunately, I was so busy coordinating my attack on that island that I didn't see White sneak in Siege Tanks to bombard my main town.  I lost about 3/4 of my ability to produce troops, and gas was running dreadfully low.  All that remained of the enemy was the huge base on the right side of the map, so I made a desperate move to take it out with my horde of Guardians.  I had an Overlord filled with Dark Templar, so I figured I'd just head straight for the Overmind and destroy it.  The ensuing battle proved to be too tough, though, since their anti-air was too much.  I had to restart, but I learned enough from my past failures to smash them good.

So you can overrun their base at the beginning without encountering major resistance?  I was forced to use 24 Guardians, 12 Mutalisks, 12 Devourers, 6 Overlords, and several dozen Hydralisks in order to eradicate Red during the midgame.  Using less than that had proven unsuccessful earlier.  Well actually, maybe the Hydralisks were a bit too much.  It's no wonder my elapsed time was an hour and a half.

Not a whole lot.  After all, Zerg missions 8 and 10 are serious game-stoppers for tons of players.  Perhaps later I'll devote an entire page to discussing why I cannot beat the AoK campaigns.

Phooey, I'm too old for training wheels.  Go try a difficulty OTHER than 'easy'.

Nah, it's perfectly fine right here.  And I can sum it up simply:

While I enjoy(ed) playing Random Map (read: not Deathmatch!!! ) games in AoK, I've never been truly impressed by the campaign experience.  I remember the AoE campaigns which were kinda fun, but something about AoK's missions doesn't really feel the same.  They're very well-done thanks to the quality of the engine/editor and its script protocol, but I lose interest not long after playing for a while.  I usually get three or four missions deep before I put the game aside.  In other cases, difficult missions discourage me from continuing.  I must be a lot more partial to Starcraft, because many of its campaign missions gave me problems and I still had the drive to play them repeatedly.  I guess I appreciate AoK for its historical setting, but I tend to drop it in favor of other RTS titles.

Well there was major resistance, but I did manage to destroy him with 4 mutas, 5-6 devs and 8-10 guardians (don't remember exactly now), plus an overlord. I lost all mutas and half guardians. No other forces were necesary... . Perhaps he did not have much troops then. Btw, I 'scanned' his base by sending zerglings to see what's where, and removed his armory quickly . No goliaths, no real danger. Mind that guardians have range lager by one factor than turrets, so turrets are not a threat to your flyers .

At the moment for me it's metroid prime 2. With both the metroids on gamecube I went through phases of playing and not playing for some reason, but then with metroid prime 2, I got up to Emperor Ing and never fought him and stopped playing it for some reason.
