Do we play Heroes?
Hmmm, just wondering when u guys play heroes at de Zone. I mean I've seen a few people there such as
Shae_Treille
Defreni
Lichking
Vesuvius
Melissa_X
Zud aka Rare_Sir_Loin
and maybe a few others, but really not many other than those 5. Hmmmmmm, with all the posters here I thought I'd see more at the Zone, but then again I don't actually spend a lot of time in the Lobby chatting I'm mostly playing people and Posting here between long turns. But I definetly wanna play some of the more famous posters here such as Incubus,Wyvern,Sha_men.Oldtymer.Unkahakkon ..just to name a few off the top of my
Well, ok basically this is what I wanna know
1.Days and times u play on the Zone
2. Time zone/Country u are in
3. Zone name
Well, idunno about u but I think this is a cool Idea and at the end I was gonna make a data base of some kind so u can see when youre favorite Poster plays on the Zone. Also I think theres a time zone converter thingie on either this TOh site or the Zone, that is why im asking for the country/time zone obviously
OK heres mine to start things off
1. Always play Friday nights about 5pm-6am(Im the Midnight gamer) also play on either Tuesday or Thursday nights9same time. Otherwise U might see me on the zone almost any given night but usually can only afford to play one game between 4 pm and 9pm
2. Usa. Eastern Standard Time=Est
3. about the same as here 'cept its spelled correctly

Ok, you're on my dance card when the day comes
However, due to a very frustrating bug on my PC, I haven't played Heroe3 online.
Something causes the game to freeze and lock the entire PC at odd intervals. It's frustrating enough playing solo, or hotseat. It'd be deadly online, as I have to reboot everything to clear it. So, until my local techsupport guru figures it out, no Zone for this old man. 
However, once that's done, if you feel like kicking a poor old codger when he's down..sure, we can dance. Hopefully I can give you at least an interesting game 
Tell you what, when I get it fixed, I'll put a 'dance card' up in the 'Unrelated' forum, and announce who kicked my tush when. And you're already on the list. Deal?

Heroes on the zone
I am rarely, if ever on the zone these days. However i do usually play daily from 9pm to 2am EST, but i play Tcp/IP games in the encounters tourney. Lots of fun there.
I would like to play some of the posters i see here. Chaotic Hydra if you want to play me let me know im sure i can figure out a suitable time to play.
BTW, i prefer to play random maps or blind map. Nothing more boring than playing a map you already know.

I check out the zone from time to time.
The biggest problem is people keep quiting. I've played 8 games on the zone, two we had technical problems, 5 people quit in the first hour and one game I played against a nice kid who attacked my castle too early so I got to kill his prime hero and best troops then followed his path straight to his lightly defended caslte and won within the next week.
If your in zone and see Oldtimer_Prime give me an IM and I'd be glad to play.

Yeah, I know, thats why I was also wondering what u play if u don't play on the zone. I mean u can still be a good player even if u only play against pc(though some say real humans are much harder) but in my opinion thats not nearly as fun as playing another human. Thats why I also asked if we play via something besides the Zone , such as tcp/ip or anything online where I could actually play against u. Also this isn't just for me but for anyone else who might wanna seee when they wanna play their favorite posting buddy. I mean havent u ever wonderd how good some of theses poeple are? Im sure they could all kick my ass but still I don't mind its fun just to play poeple with different styles and personalities and get to know poeple.
OK and to Unkahaakon,hope u get ur bug fixed soon have u checked out the bug site link to TOH, I'm sure u have but just checking
TO IronMlh, Well I play via tcp/ip a lot too. But I usually meet on the zone. also I was thinkin about joining encounters but i dont know that many poeple that play it, just seems like everyone plays either TOH, myths and Hk and their pretty much enough to keep me busy, but if encounters has something good to offer(as I'm sure it does)and enough people play there I'll defninetly play it too. (although if its one of those league for the ELite or at least good players (like Bastards is) then Im afraid I cant join.
And as for maps
a. I hardly have any memeorized
b. any map works for me but u gotta host cuz I dont have Sod yet.
To Oldtymer ok thats cool that u check in every now and then
maybe I'll see ya soon and if u play me on Friday night(aka tomorrow as I'm writitng this) then I guarantee I won't quit at least not without surrendering or reconnecting and coming back(stupid MSN!!)

Some people here just play Diablo and post on a heroes message board without knowing a real thing about the game. They haven't posted a damn thing about Heroes at all, except for stuff about what this and this should look like. Sounds to me like they're just looking at pictures on the back of a HoMM box.
You will probably note that two people in particular will not post a reply to this thread. Because I don't think they play Heroes at all...

Other places to play.
Some of us have played hundreds of tournament games in other places! Some of us go all the way back to Vesuvius' first tourney (Heroes 2), The Oracle League, Tymeria, Heroes Encounters. I hate the chat crap in the Zone myself.

I did try to play the game at the zone before...
But the problem was, some of the players doesn't have a good connection. They always get disconnected from the game, I was hosting!

Fun for all levels of play, all random maps. Players starting out get 10k gold per level difference of there opponent to help out. SO, for instance you sign up and play a level 4 opponent, you start with 40k, you can use that to purchase troops, building and such prior to the game starting and/or take the remaining gold into the game.
Makes for some fun games. check it out, and let them know Ironmlh sent you

zone? thanx but no thanx...
I've been playing HoMM since HoMM2 (actually HoMM1 but only for a month or two) but only solo... the main reason I don't enter the zone is that I'm on dial-up and every hour it disconnects me... wait till I get a DSL (in a month or two) then I'll set the zone on fire... (I'll try anyway)

zone tips
well, maybe everybody knows this already, but I will post it anyway.
Here a some little things I've done to improve my zone / game "performance" (I have a lousy 56K modem)
-if connection sucks (many red lights), I leave the lobby and reconnect immediately.. dunno why, but it helps from time to time
-don't put everybody you have ever spoken to in your zone friends list
-toggle sound/music off
-have as few maps as possible in the maps folder... store the maps you don't need into a different folder
-same with savegames
-defragmentate (is that right? ) hard disk regularly

I also play almost exclusively heroes encounters now. Actually many people in this tournament play almost exclusively in it.

Well, I see theres another place that people play besides the zone.I've heard of Encounters before, so I guess I'll go check them out. Btw, the Zone isn't really that great of a gaming site but it is good for meeting for players especially ones that play TOH. Well thanks for the info,I can go check it out for myself but I would also like to hear from u as to why u like it better than say..toh and the other popular zone playing leagues.
ALso thanks for the info on the Zone connection info, haile73,Btw haile 73, For the longest time I thought u were some happy black guy sitting in Africa with a silver cup in his hand, then I find out after reading ur vitals somewhere that ,your a white guy with blonde hair in sweden or somewhere. LOL, Choatic... sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not black (I'm from Germany, btw).
The guy on the pic is called Haile Gebrselassie. I'm very surprised that noone seems to have heard of him; he's a runner from Ethiopia, holding the 10km world record... won several world championships and Olympic races... became "only" 3rd in this year's world championships, which was the 1st race he lost in the last 8 years!
I'm doing long distance running, too, that's why I chose him as avatar

Ahhhhhhhh, Germany, I see sorry about the mistake there. Actually my heritage is from Germany for the most part. I mean we have a few other races mixed in but for the most, I'm german,though I hate SaurKraut!! Geeez don't tell the German Government there my lil secret, the might send a spy over here to America to kill me!!(isnt that a requirement for being German,loving Saurkraut?,or maybe it was Bratwurst in which case I'm good to go)OK well anyways I'll hafta play ya sometime haile73, I did'mt kmow u were named after that mararthon runner.
