Looking Back On 2005

Positives:

*I've done well in the majority of my college classes this year. I had some good papers and exams, which were very rewarding after my hard work. My history class in particular was very successful and I'm proud of the efforts that I put forth. Even my impossible Geog 353 went well (thank God).

*I saved an abandoned kitten in January and my family's been caring for it ever since. It's a cute little thing, but it eventually grew sharp claws and some nasty teeth. It likes to claw and bite us a lot for no reason. Still, we love the kitten and enjoy having it around.

*I bought some awesome CDs this year. The artists include Depeche Mode, ELO, U2, Radiohead, The Killers, R.E.M., and Lifehouse. My R.E.M. collection is bulging, and I'm loving their music more and more as time goes on.

*I performed a solo song at church in November. I wrote five different versions of one song in two weeks, but I dumped all of it on the morning of the performance. I stayed up all night and wrote a sixth version, and I didn't complete the lyrics until ten minutes before I went on stage. It was truly risky and scary, but people told me afterwards that I did a good job. I couldn't believe it.

*I bought my very own 12-string Rickenbacker electric guitar a month ago; I was hoping to get that kind of guitar for quite a long time. My guitar idol is Peter Buck from R.E.M., and I love the jangly tone that the Rick creates. I'll need to practice a lot with the instrument to get better, since I have aspirations to totally rock out on it someday.

*I started to learn to play keyboards. I don't have a teacher and I can't read music very well, so I'm stuck with teaching myself for now. It's been a minor struggle with fingering the keys, but it has also been a fun experience. I love the strings setting; it's very lovely.

*This Halloween's concert was awesome. My band didn't get to practice much, but we had a wonderful time playing a set of nine songs. The show went a lot better than last year's. We rocked on a lot of the songs, as opposed to the previous year's acoustic dominance. I walked away truly inspired that night.

*Two of my church leaders married each other in November. I'm so happy for them; I can't believe they're now husband and wife. They've been really nice friends to me in the past three years.

*I got to visit my high school teachers several weeks ago. I've missed them so much since I am in college now. I only had a short while to see them, though; I had to leave in half an hour in order to take a final exam. Still, it was great to see them again. Visiting my school brought back memories of good times. Maybe I'll stop by another time if I can.

----------------

Negatives:

*I stayed up way too late on many nights this year. Along with that, I procrastinated on quite a few occasions. My schoolwork didn't really suffer, but I lost a whole lot of sleep. As a result, I'd take super long naps during the day and my schedule would become really wacky. I'd even get to class late because I missed the early bus. I confess that I've had too many close calls this past semester.

*I lost a potential girlfriend during this summer. I'd been foolish in spending too much money on giving her presents, so she told me in a letter that she wasn't interested in a relationship. It saddens me very much that I let something precious slip out of my hands. I'm also afraid that it has affected our friendship.

*I lost a very good friend in Iraq this past April. A car bomb killed him and another soldier along the road outside of Baghdad. I was unable to attend his funeral, but I've been mourning his passing ever since. I had his email written down somewhere, but I lost it after I graduated from high school. I regret not being able to communicate with him before he died. He was a great buddy who always sat we me during lunch hour. I will remember him and all of the times we laughed and joked together.

*I've been feeling depressed lately about not getting to hang out with friends during the week. It gets dull at home and I wish there were more people I could hang out with during my spare time. Unfortunately, most of my friends were too busy with school and stuff. Most of them left Hawaii for mainland colleges anyway. It takes a while for me to find new friends at the university, so that's another serious hinderance.

*My mom and dad have been clashing a lot lately. It's mostly due to my dad being too impatient and not using common sense. He does/says stupid things and then my mom will snap at him. It goes much deeper than this, so there's no question that it's getting kind of serious. I fear that their relationship will strain even more due to these daily squabbles. Divorce does not print a pretty picture in my mind, so I'm very worried about this.

*I've had an incredibly long dry patch this year. I've been unable to write songs for quite some time. In fact, I doubt that I wrote more than two in this past twelve months. I guess I've been unmotivated and somewhat uninspired. I'm working on breaking out of this dry patch, but I think it will take a while.

*I'm getting a little round in the belly; I need to start exercising soon. I'm still young and slim, but my physical condition needs to be kept in check before I turn into a total blob someday.

*Getting the runs at the shopping mall just wasn't cool.

*I still haven't obtained my permit and license yet. Also, I've not managed to find a good part-time job for myself. I'll probably have to look into these things in early 2006.

*I still can't change my guitar strings. It's very sad.

Positives

I completly reinvented myself in 2005. Back in 04 I was a immature prick, I was, for lack of a better word, an snow to everyone. I was largely unpopular, and very disliked. I liked nothing but rap music and I was more or less a "Wigger" (AKA a white person who tries to act black). I was completly out of shape and such, now I am more calm, relaxed, and laid back. I am a much better person, and I believe I have matured alot. I am alot more open-minded now than I was before

I made the football team

My brothers came down to visit - TWICE

I am having a blast in high school

I made several new friends

Negatives

I didn't start in football.

Even though my brothers visited twice, they also left twice

My cousin died in a car crash

I lost one of my best girl friends to some other guy

Okay, here's my 2006 version:

Positives:

*Passing all my non-drop non-withdrawn university classes.

*Playing two original songs with the church band during the summer, receiving applause.

*Learning to do basic "jump-kicks".

*Taking my Religion class and learning many interesting things about biblical history.

*The Halloween gig; I recorded my best guitar solo ever during "Secret Agent Man".

*Greeting and talking to Laura on Christmas Eve.

*Friday, December 29...10:30PM through 1AM.

Negatives:

*Getting sick no less than three times.

*My period of depression and faithlessness from October to early December.

*My college stresses, health problems, and lack of sleep thanks to papers/exams.

*My inner demons, whatever they may be (I know, but I'm not telling).

I'll add more to these later, as I think of them.

Man I can barely remember 2005

I think I was at uni, and working two jobs, and sleeping a few hours a night, and then playing Heroes 4 on my days off and searching the web for any sign of heroes five...

edit that was just last year right!

It is coming back to me

heehee

I started my first full time job {permanent} teaching, and yes it is all coming back to me now

Sorry I am a bit late, but do you mind if I post my positives and my negatives for 2007?

Positives

* Started getting more into Electronic Music Recording, eventually moving onto RL Synthesizers, and then later incorporating both of them together.

* There was a period where I wasn't on HC for a month, but after that, I improved a bit.

* Got faster Internet connection.

* Got the Double CD of Poland Concert by TD.

* Became a School Leader.

* Put a lot more effort into my School Work towards the end of the year because a friend of mine left, so I had more time to study and not goof off all the time. I see this as a positive because at the moment, School is important for me, especially since this is my last year.

* Turned my Room into half a Studio.

Negatives

* Got suspended a few times and nearly expelled twice.

* Got in a fight with 4 other people where they got me to the ground and started kicking my head (seriously, who does that?!).

* My anger got the best of me at times.

* Fights with Family.

* Losing a friend on the Internet. I still have not heard back from her.

* Didn't get out as much as I used to.
