Do you think playing "auto combat" makes you a true player?

I was playing with someone, I found it strange that person acted the way of a computer would, since "Auto Combat" can be enabled beginning, during, and after the battles.

Firstly, can anyone of you, people, battle with your creatures and use spells, within a second?

I know I can't, I have to think it over and pick which would be the best and effective way to kill a creature or multiple creatures at once.

I think it is impossible someone can do a move from that creature before it is ever picked.

For instance: He was Sylan, just after his archer hit my creature twice (it hits twice), it was the tree creatures turns and they all went defend after the archer finished its last shot.

From my experience, I know computers can be cheap and annoying, but to facing a player and uses slow on me with almost no army, I don't understand that.  I would of at least used Ice Bolt or a minor attacking magic spell.

Now, from my primary starter topic and question, Do you think playing battles in "Auto Combat" makes you a true player in the game?  I'd rather have it as a topic than a poll, to see what would people say.

There is no such thing as a "true" player. Perhaps he just doesn't like the combat aspect of the game or isn't good at it and because of that uses autocombat? I wouldn't worry too much about it, the AI can't beat a human mind anyway

I don't see anything wrong with people using autocombat.

Maybe your opponent just wanted to see what the creatures could do, and didn't want to waste your time while he mucked about looking for his best options.

It doesn't really matter anyway, I agree with Thanatos's assesment, the comp on autocombat shouldn't be too difficult to deal with.

Dude... The Computer has almost perfect building and movement strategies
(higher diffs) so the only way to beat him is in combat. The computer is
acting stupid and almost never does smth really smart and cool in battle. I defeated 11 Deep Hydras 3 Black Dragons and 8 Shadow Matriarchs which became 40 during battle though 5 times used phantom forces. I defeated them with 40 obsidian gargoyles 27 Iron Golems and 32 scouts!

sometimes

when playing sometimes is faster to fight on autocombat, the creatures on the map. but sometimes i am tired and only for some battles i lose some troups i automaticaly replay. great feature. i am seek again with the illness "never lose one troup". seek am i. it is not to much fun to fight 100 imps when you have some serious army. but is bad taste and bad habbit to use it against  human player. bad.

i don't think that auto-combat mekes you a lesser true player( if by that you mean a hardcore elite player, otherwise the term of 'true' doesn't exist), but ,personally, i think it really sucks. You just can't win with autoccombat a batle vs a better army, and even vs very small armies you tend to lose units, batles wich otherwise could be won very easy flawless. So i just never use this option.

I use the option very often actually a play the whole campain this way.I do not spend time for minor battles and when I win a magior battle on autocombat I simply replay it.

Auto combat is useless. Quick combat on the other hand, really helps you save time by taking down all those neutrals.

I personally have no problem with people using auto combat although i dont use it myself.as for being "a true player"as someones already said ..theres no such thing.I think as long as the experience for an individual is a fun one then thats all that matters.

Actually i did use autocombat once the other night in an hope that the computer could rescue me from my pitifull display of tactics in battle and i got beat up and lost the battle lol.as someone as also pointed out you cant beat having a human brain in the driving seat.

I do every battle myself. I don't know if it improved from the previous games, but I don't want my guys doing stupid things.

The only way to win is to play yourself and not using autocombat.

Autocombat is very good, i even think they should rethink how they calculate the losses, because in some situations you are advantaged.
The strong point for H5 Autocombat is the possibility to replay the combat when they did something stupid (like losing 3 tier-4 to a Hero with 2 creatures =S).
Honestly, i was getting pretty bored, having to fight the neutrals for Exp and Skellies (when Necro), Autocombat is very enjoyable.

What...autocombat ...quick combat. I never used those before cause I was asuming that the AI would just calculate my losses based on its own tactics and since it has never shown any interesting tactics I never bothered to turn it on.

@Vacinden
well, as i've said, now, you get a screen showing you the battle result, and you have a button to Replay the combat if you think you can do better. But in battles with "regular" neutrals (ie, non shooter, non casters), you almost always get good results, and this saves a lot of time. Plus it prevents the game from being boring after your zillionth fight.
That's the great thing with this version: you can use it whenever you want, and replay when not satisfied. For me it's a must have, i won't play without it anymore.

Auto-Combat never makes you a true hero.
But sometimes you need it to save time, and the saved time can be used for epic combat planning.

well, wiping the floor with creatures you want to kill for XP or skellies is hardly strategic =)
And, sorry to repeat myself, but you don't have to trust the AI now. You can see what the result would be, and either accept it or replay the battle to your liking! So if you don't take casulaties, or very few, you click ok, if you're not happy, you click "replay" and you fight. That's really great, trust me, try it out for a whole map, you'll see how great an improvement it is from the previous games. I never used it (in H2, H3, H4), but in this game it rocks.
