The only solution here is to wait for the map editor and hope that our mapmakers deliver.
There is no easy solution to the "point addicts"-problem. I notice that diallin has 22-2 and average honor. -problem solved?
I understand that the LOTO-players help us get the "register" counter up, but what type of reputation does TOH want? Example: A new player starts his toh-gaming by playing Diallin or Zilonite - gets rushed day 4 or 5 by 100 marksmen or something equally distasteful. Wow, toh must be much fun! The >highest< ranked players are noob-bashing with max turn length = 5 turns! Yea this is the greatest tournament ever 
On the other hand, those that see this marksmen rush can use this strategy themselves to gain easy points from other new players. In the end, the majority of new players will meet toh with this type of welcome, because the rest of us can't finish games, or play longer games - meaning: fewer games - I guess everyone gets the picture 
I don't think it's a major problem, but I must admit that it's a bit annoying. I'm afraid that I'm agreeing with Jinxer so far (omg)

Concerning the players reporting c-map games when they played A-maps. Its just like any other kinda cheating. This is a tournament of honor. Sooner or later people who break the rules and cheat to advance in the tournament will be banned. Dont forget it would take 2 dishonest players to agree to cheat the tournament. And if they are willing to do that just for sake of easy points and there honor means nothing to them.....then they are the type of person that would and will be finding anyway they can to cheat many other ways as well. Which means weather we add this option or not, they will be cheating to advance. I say vast majority of players would follow the rules enough to make it worth it... And the few dishonorable players that stoop to the low level to cheat the system will get caught and banned.

looking back, couple of years ago, i recall playing alot of games UNpassword protected and getting most of fun outta each game. why ? because of a bunch of players i trusted. some of them are back. so , from my point of view , i see absolutelly no reason to worry about the possible partners that could bring a fun infusion in each game.the only problem unsolved yet its the map editor and outta syncro bug.
as guybrush threepwood said, 13 years ago : "map, ship, crew - got it"
the only missing part is the map, rest is set

Longer game better imho... i still remember i played a random xl with underground map with Frank... it lasted 17 hours... after great effort and all sleepy hours i spent, canadian freak as usually beated me at the end

yeah minator played only good to go...actually that is a small map...better than desert war though in my opinion..just by a bit

A few thoughts..........
Jinxer, if the temptation is there the liklihood of normally 'honest' players taking advantage of it rises exponentially.
Acu, the day Minothing comes back to ToH under the same name is the day I quit, lol.
My favorite feature of H4 was password protection on saves. I'd sure like to see this item implemented again.
I miss Zud.
I miss Pan.
3DO is behind on our royalty payments again, Rob.
Once more, for the record, I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.
