new stronghold- the stampede

i've been thinking about a new stronghold town. the stampede town is about how Slyath feels hard done by becuase that the majority of his humans went of to worship his brother, elrath. the humans that Slyath has left he has decided to change, to make them stronger, bigger, and wilder, the ogres. i think that, though slyath is a fickle as can be, he would take offence at his elder races begin nicked from him by his brother.

the stampede
aka: the ogres
colours: brown and white/yellow
motto: might makes right
core philosophy: might makes right, honour is everything, uphold your name and the name of your tribe
coutry: the ranaar plains
capital: rok'tar'ogra (it literally means "the ruins of our fathers)
symbols: a ogre sword, a picture of a thunderbird

the stampede town is very much about the charge, it is a huge rabble that will kill anyone who gets in their way. the ogre tribesmen charging into battle, swords clashing, with the children of their god, the indredible Levaithans (or behemoths, the name is opional) rampageing along the battlefeild. swarms of goblins running into battle (they are like piggy back knights, with pointy sticks ) trying to impress their ogre masters. the giants beaten down and enslaved to use against their enemies. as you can tell, it is a very chaotic affair.

they hate both haven and inferno. inferno because they are the enemy of life, and haven because their god hates them. they are distrustfull of magic, so nercopolis and academy are out. they don't like elves, as they get confused by the elves way of life, and they hate lies. they are a honourable race, so distrust the dark elves no end. basically they are a stand alone race.

but the once town they truly hate is the stronghold. the humans of the free cities have a deep hatred of the ogres, because they both worship Sylath, however the ogres worship him as the thunder bird, a mighty creature of the storms. the humans worship him as the ice dragon. the orc allies to the humans is another agrovation to the ogres, as the orcs are not natural creations, and so the ogres feel that they should be destroyed. however, both factions are Sylaths pawns, but his schemes are vast, long and incredibly complicated, who said that the two would like eachother.

ogres are cannablistic, and are a very "might makes right" culture. they can take anything from a weaker creature, including life and limb. ogres, on the whole, live for two things, eating and fighting. eating has a religious importance to them, as Sylath taught his children that eating was the way to his heart. they are also cannablistic, and so, when an ogre dies, their partner and family may eat various parts of them in order to gain their strengths.

the hero: the warlord. the biggest, strongest ogres become warlords, or foe-bane, as they refer to them as. they are the ones who call the creatures into battle, heralding the stampede. if you are up against a warlord, and they want you as their next meal, the only thing between you and their sprawling gut is a fast horse and an awful lot of luck.

the units
1> goblins -> hob goblins (three goblins. two underneath a top one)
2> debatable, not orcs, though, as they have allied themselves to the free cities
3> ogre warrior -> ogre blood spiller (bone cracker, skull splitter)
4> ogre tracker -> ogre food bringer (prey hunter, creature killer)
5> ogre shaman -> ogre storm speaker (spirit master, wind whisperer)
6> either cyclops -giants (cyclops are giants who have had their eye gouged out and eaten (waste of good meat) by the ogres, they are the weaker ones) or manticores -> feral manticores (sabertooth tiger ish, large bat wings, it would be good to have a flyer in a many walker town)
7> thunder lizard ->levaithan (massive, if possible, 3x3 sqaures!!!!!)

please tell me what you think

too much like the stronghold faction. Sylaths faction should be something like an oriental town. and the thunderbirds are a must.

Slyath could be worshipped in two places, so far we have had towns who worship one dragon, but what about two factions playing against each other, the stampede, who, instead of getting changed by slyath, could get mutated by the demons and are struggling to find a god who will accept them (enter Slyath to take them underneath his wing). the free cities were there already, and are furious that the ogres are getting the attention that they rightly diserve for years of servitude and adoration, and so want them destroyed. the stampede are more than happy to face fresh competition from the free cities.

i agree, i was a bit stupid for not including thunderbirds, but i was thinking of them as a possible change to the levaithan as the greatest of slyaths experiments. i could get rid of the gaint or the manticore and put the thunderbird in there, but they give more of a sense of a stampede, whilst the thunderbird is more in tune with the spirits. so i put the thunderbird as the symbol that the ogres worship Sylath by.
