Why don't you stop with the vague hints and just say that I am responsible?.. You won't be too far off.

I've already heard before (I think it was on the rare occasion that I was bored enough to watch the History channel) that the date that was adapted as the birth of Christ was taken from some paganic holiday. I think it was the day of some warrior/sun god or something.

I'm actually not too proud of that one. I had to apologize for knocking her up without even being able to brag about deflowering her.

Deflowering is something to brag about? Oh well if we're talking about Jesus Mom I guess there should be bragging rights...
But well... how was she?

*rubs chin*

hmm... not sure about the actual date (in fact most of the above have either no known b-day, as in the case of most ancient [demi]gods or a different one, as in the case of jesus) but there are quite a few parallels between their lives (especially with Mithras, Dionysus and Osiris)

the answer? good storytelling and politics, that's pretty much all there is to it. even the church admitted that dec25 was chosen as christmas because there was a roman holiday on that date (and we can't have those heathens worship a lesser god despite all our attempts to convert them)

ahh, heck who can trust the sources of men anyways when it comes to something this serious?

All I can say is if I copy and paste that whole list of men into a web search I will find a bunch of sources saying they are tied together by very notable similarities.

The most predominate similarity is that most of them are born December 25th and/or born of virgin mothers.

i appologize I did not foresee a need to go into detail with each one of these.

Perhaps it is the source of man that causes so much controversy over the first post in this thread. Funny that that is very relevant and ironic.

However the general premise even though I didn't feel a need to be incredibly clear to avoid 35% of the posts avoiding the main point, is that the list of men were born BC and very distinguishable things about them are exactly similar to the story of jesus.

What the main point I refer to is, "the greatest story ever told" was not original at all in many key and important ways.

December 25th, born of virgin woman, is the most predominate similarity outside of all of them being some kind of spiritual relics or something.

It's rather easy to imagine. Take a load of semen, put it in the obvious place without touching the flora, and voila, 9months later you have a virgin birth

No, Jesus' Birthday would not be December 25th.  From all indications it would have been closer to mid June or July.  Yes, the celebrating of his birthday was moved closer to a pagan holiday (I forget which) to make transitions easier for those that followed that holiday.

Even not counting 'Devine sex' (aka zues having his way) most of the females in the greek stories were married and NOT virgins.  He would often take the form of their husbands while the husbands were away to 'get some'.

There is a lot of similarities between his offspring and Jesus.  Except for the virgin part.  Oh yeah, and one of his kids had super human strength..don't remember Jesus ever having that.

I mean Heck Take Easter.  Come on..what the heck does rabbits and eggs have to do with ANYTHING?  Let alone the rebirth of Christ?  Such holidays are just commercialised representations and should not be taken to seriously.  Something for the Kids..nothing more.

mytical...

modern day religious holidays (more specifically christmas and easter) are an amalgamation of abrahamic and pagan religions (a bit of roman, a touch of celtic, a pinch of germanic, a dash of egyptian, etc) filtered through the true religion of the era... profit

Why?? All of these people, Deities, Osiris, Attis, Krishna, Zoroaster, Mithra, Buddha, Heracles, Dionysus, Tammuz, Adonis, Hermes, Bacchus, Prometheus, and maybe more, why do they before the Jesus story have so much in common with it?

for clarification
The list here are of those I believe to be all men... Of course I am not saying they are virgin mothers! These people are categorized as men having various similarities in the story of their lives and of Jesus. Mainly being, most of them listed here were born of virgin mothers on december 25th

There are virtually no similarites between Jesus and any pagan god. If want to seen an actual comparison, please refer to the below website.

Are you joking? Zeitgeist is pop crap conspiracy theory. Anyone using it as argument is... well >_> Conspiracy theories are almost fashionable nowadays, people believe in absurds such as NWO or 2012 apocalypse, Zeitgeist just gives them what they want. Brilliant marketing.

Seriously, even leaving the first part (about religion) aside, the other two are so stupid that Zeitgeist has no credibility at all.

Be that as it may, I was referring to the coincidences/points brought up in the movie about the Bible story and earlier religions, which are interesting regardless of context.
Just because theres some story about the Federal Reserve trying to eat people in the movie doesn't mean that the parallels drawn aren't interesting..
