Hey, i thought i could help out some newcomers with tote, as there are many new alternative upgrades, and your probably just sitting there without a clue! today, i'll help you with haven , the others maybe you can help me with

Haven:
Peasents--->conscriptes or brutes. you should choose Conscripts they have more a/d and more dmg, unless youre ellaine, you should have brutes to keep the taxpayer ability

Archermarksman or crossbowman. u shoud choose--->crossbowmen, they have no range peanlty, and ive never seen precise shots happen often.

footman:--->squires or vinidictator. u sould choose vinidictator for very obvious reasons--->cleave!!

Griffins--->battle or imperial. this one is tricky considering battle dive is really good , but battle are tougher. i'd go with imperial

Priests---> inquistors or zealots. i admit it, i hit the wall on this one, but since zealots can blind, while the inquistor has no powers on its own, i would choose --->Zealots

cavaliers---> champions or paladins. theres a fine line for this one. if you have more than 10, go with the champions, less than 10, choose them paladins. this being because champions can damage the creature directy behind the target, but its 50% less, so unless u have many, choose paladins

angels---> archangels or seraph. seraph has divine vengance, which ive been notified is overpowered, but haven troops can attack and kill swiftly without losing too muc people. go with them arcangels, they got ressurection, which i see as a perfect oppurtuinity to ressuruct your paladins/champions.



of course, its all your choice. this is just a rough entry for new comers. please post and comment

I'm having to agree with most of your choices, but I would personally have to go with Seraphs over Arch angels. (If only so I could get a hero with light magic, refined mana and feed low tier units to some big enemy (cyclopses) and smite them. Twice. )

Good list overall. (I hope to make one for Sylvan soon...)

I think you can use paladins when you have more than ten as well. If I remember correctly, they have +2 defense, as well as Lay Hands. Also, Squires have Bash, which is probably better for a devensive styled strategy. Other than that, I agree.

Pff, that's practically the easiest one. Arcane Archers vs. Master Hunters? No duh?

Regarding Arc Archers vs Master Archers...

I'm still not sure if 3.1 buffed(!?) or nerfed Arc Archers?  There was definitely a change on their Force Arrows in the "unlisted changes."

But the thing that makes Arc Archers crazy isn't their Force Arrows anyways....

Squire-vindicator: Vindicator sucks if it can kill anything, so I'd choose squire if
- facing Orcs, blood rage almost overkills Vindis
- opponent has a thrashing Ballista, Shield allies comes very handy
- against Dwarves also - high defense and a possible Incorp rune is not a good matchup for Vindicators
- when having Soldier's luck - Bash is goo

Pala-Champ: Never take Champ against a powerful Dark magic user (so Necro, Aca and maybe Inferno) cause they'll chop you up.

Same for Seraphs, Dark magician casts Weakness and makes at least half of the avg. damage disappear. And Archs Resu ability is pretty useful.

Otherwise, I agree with the most.

Side note:
Alternative upgrades almost never to be used:
- Marksman, Untamed Cyclops, Foul Wyvern, Cerbi, MH, Vamp Lord (except facing Necro), Djinn Sultan for first thought
