Well, was thinking with the knowledge of dungeoneering(and the act associated with gaining that knowledge) would be a reason to take light around. So, creating something light that he didn't have to continually restock with supplies for would be useful. Suppose I should include some of this information into the other post.

*nods* If you are not worried about it getting dispelled, then by all means . Don't worry about the 50gp either, not going to require materials for spells. Some spells require a 5000 gp diamond and that is ridiculous. Then you can just recast the spell on the ring if it gets dispelled.

Ah I misunderstood about the ring, that is not a big deal at all .. sorry. Basically you bought the ring and cast the spell yourself, I was thinking was a more permanent version.
What I am curious about is the +1 sword somebody has, and the cloak somebody else has. Oh and the frost touch dagger .

So if we're...5th level then, I'd get 1 3rd level spell, 2 2nd level spells, 3 1st, and 4 cantrips, and +5 spells if I specialize in a school so long as the ‘extra’ spells are from that school, correct?
Quote: Not sure how to do the bonus spells lol. I mean who would want to use them for level 1 spells when they could use it for 5th level spells? Maybe require the bonus spells to be spread as evenly as possible between the spell levels?
I’m going to assume we can’t move these around, yes? So if you put a bonus spell into a 5th level spell, then you learn to cast 6th level spells, it’ll still be in that 5th level slot. Just don’t let us save them up until we’re epic level and apply them all there.

I think we might need to relax some of the rules regarding spells etc, otherwise the RPG will get bogged down with stats rather than any storytelling.
If we can decide on how many spells (per level) characters can use per day, might be a better idea.

What bonuses do warriors and thieves get that don't multiclass?
Name: Morlin
Race: Dwarf
Age: 36
Height: 4 ft 9"
Weight: I dunno, how much do dwarves usually weigh? He's husky, but he's only slightly huskier than the average dwarf.
Sex: Male
Class: Warrior
Description: Morlin is a great, stout dwarf with a great, stout braided beard. He comes from an urban clan of dwarves, yet despite his more civilised heritage, he decided that a life of warfare was his and afforded himself a training worthy of the mountain dwarves and a dwarven battle axe, along with a nice suit of chain mail. He distinguished himself among other dwarves and men and rose rank enough to be trusted with missions as escorting by the time he became thirty.
Morlin never forgot his merchant family heritage though and outside of battle he acted more like a human than the typical belching, drinking and brawling dwarf.
Equipment: Basic chain mail armor, A dwarven battle axe, backpack, food, rope, bedroll, Dwarven spork and a kitchen knife.
I would like a studded wooden shield if possible (and if the typical dwarven axe is one-handed in this world). I have no idea what the market price is and how much money I have left over, now.

Yes, lets not bog this down with too much spell info. Everybody is equivalent to 10th level. So lets just say 30 spell levels per day for generalist, and 40 (with 10 total level of spells from chosen spells) for specialist. You can use those levels as you see fit. Choosing a sixth level spell would mean you have 24 levels (or 34) left. Fair enough?
Single class vs Dual Class.
A 'single class' character..in this case a single class warrior, will be tougher (ie more hit points), stronger (a multiclass would have to split the stats points if their were any), and have more options to weapons and armor. A mage/warrior could not wear even chain mail (unless magical) where a full warrior could wear full plate. Also a thief/warrior would not use a two handed weapon, and a pure warrior would have little trouble doing so.
As for the shield, you can have it, don't worry about cost on that.

Hmm somebody needs to smack me with a fish..I could have swore I made reference to it being a town on the outskirts. This week really has turned my brain to mush. It doesn't make sense if an entire kingdom is destroyed, that the group would not pass a single town on the way back from another kingdom.
