Trying to figure out both the content of my post and how to do it without controlling Alkeran, since he's essentially following me I'll have to include his movements/behavior in my post otherwise it'll look awkward.
I hope you don't mind if I put this off till I had some sleep, been awake for more than 36 hours crunching my brain at something.

Yes, that occurred to me IRL too, hence why my character is following the damn shore-line. ^^ (though likely Fandral's going to have a chat with Mat see what his troubles are and solve them in order to divert himself from this little dilemma)

The guard is tired, mostly, but that particular response falls more under "ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer." You asked where the shark hunters live when you're on a small, single-settlement island with no decent sized landmass for a reasonable distance in any direction.

Why must the bloody guard be so unreasonable, if it's a small village then the answer should be simple too, especially considering that we're newcomers and don't know the place very well.
It would take just as much effort to give a helpful answer as to mock, one will earn gratitude, the other a sword in the back.

Unreasonable how? He already told you he doesn't know who the specific person you asked about is, so it isn't like he can point out their house. It takes just as much effort to ask a meaningful question as to ask one to which the answer should be obvious enough not to bother, too, you know. 'Where do the fisherman of the fishing village live?' Where do you expect them to live, the bottom of the ocean?
