Fenix rolled her eyes and chuckled as she left. So apparently he liked the armor. This was good... and he might accidentally blow a hole in his ship if he kept at it like this. He would probably blame her for that somehow... which would be bad because now he had a walking death suit. Sure, she may have programed in and hardwired a kill switch that basically locked the suit down and linked the command code to her arm, just in case her more-than-slightly homicidal friend decided to turn on her (and since he had come to her for modification, he probably... hopefully... wouldn't notice said addition as anything more than "That silly Empire engineering") but that was beside the point. The Akhari could do quite a bit of damage before the command was sent, hell he could probably blow a few holes in her ship if he really wanted to, which was of course less than desirable.
Then again, Akhari ships might be made of tougher stuff than the ships that the Empire fielded... she hoped.
With that cheerful thought, Fenix entered her ship/ shop and dealt with the two or three customers inside, telling them that the man who had brought her some cargo yesterday was going to be taking her to another shipment, and that she should have some new merchandise in a day or two. That should provide more than enough of a cover story, especially since she had a local reputation for "going out to retrieve her goods." Some times she actually did too, which only added to the veracity of her story! After they had left, they would probably tell the neighborhood that she would be gone for a while, Fenix pressed a few buttons to darken the shop and flicked on the closed sign before going to her sleeping quarters.
She picked up her TV remote, stripped out the battery slot and pressed a hidden pressure plate, opening up a panel to a stash below her bed. About five minutes later, she had pulled out a helmet, her black assassin's suit and her laz pistol. These she put into a shipping crate, along with some false identification and a lady's construction uniform, to cover her suit. She brought this package back with her when she returned to Jak's ship, locking and trapping her own behind her. A small wave of relief passed through Fenix when she saw that there didn't seem to be any exterior damage done... yet.

The door of the Akhari ship opened up and Fenix found herself standing in front of a short and broad-shouldered Legionnaire. He grabbed her hand and pulled her inside, placing his other hand on her shoulder. The door closed after Fenix's luggage moved in.
"Come in! Come in!" Jak cried excitedly from inside the armor, "You did a great job! I'm enjoying this armor so much! Move in, make yourself at home and grab a drink we need to toast this!"
Jak left Fenix alone, removed his helm and went to get some refreshments. Fenix finally had a chance to look around. Nothing seemed to be broken. Either Jak constrained himself enough to only fire in his special training room or he just pushed the magic cleaning button in time. Soon he got back and pressed a glass of unknown liquid in Fenix's hand. He was holding one as well.
"This is sahak, sort of Akhari whiskey. I have very limited amounts of it, but this is a special occasion. Let's toast to our partnership!", Jak downed the glass in one gulp and then picked up a data sphere from the table. "Speaking of which, you can examine the ship on the way, I know you want to. But first, help me find our destination. We're looking for the Huntress Shasnavi Virennak. Work your computer magic and see where she is right now."
He handed the Evolon the data sphere with Sage's info.

- heh, the f$%&ing nobility sure are taking their f£$%ing time. and there I thought that he was eager. huh. I'll bust his kneecaps when I see him again.- Dorian said

- Oh, we'll see him again. an adventurous lot. though he better not be bullsh!ting me with that lead of his. let's move on. I'm not planning on waitng for the spoiled brat's lapdog. can you get any more info on this Akhari that is either brave or stupid to visit one of the empire's more populated city dumps.
Sage accessed the network of the PDF and the law enforcement.
- Hmm... it seems..- She paused while she scrolled through the headlines- Yea, it seems that someone reported a supposed akhari ship nearby one of the Evolon teritorries. turned out to be a hoax.
- stupid f£$%s. not everyday you get a report like this. the f£$%er is smart. It's not much, but it's a f£$%ing lead. we should check it.
- You've got a feeling right?
- Right you are.-Dorian looked at the holomap of the territory.
- Some landing pads near a machine shop at the edge of the ghetto. large enough for Sweetheart to land to. I'm bored on this starport, and I've got an urge to shoot an arrogant noble motherf£$%er in the face while sitting here.- Dorian mumbled as he walked towards the ship's cockpit. Sage followed. Seeing him pilot taught her a lot of things, she became quite the pilot herself, but not as skilled as Dorian.
not an hour had passed and Sweetheart had landed near Fenix's shop, on a landing pad nearby Jak's starship.

Fenix was nearly buzzing with excitement as she took the sphere. Get a look at Jak's ship? Oh yes, that was definitely one of the things she wanted to do. Hacking the cube was simple enough, it only took about five minutes to get the display up and another ten to find the current location of sage according to both public sightings of her vehicle, and the current whereabouts of her ship based on trajectory and the Hunter database which was accurate to the minute... "We might have a problem. They are coming to us." Fenix said. Predicting that Jak would most likely object somehow, she began scrolling back to Sage's personal file so that she could select the name of Sage's partner, Dorian. "Now, this man is decently well know among the rebels. Particularly because he has killed rather quite a few of the allies we had among crime syndicates and has destroyed a few of our smuggling operations, some of which had thirty or more members, single handedly. He is a powerful, trigger happy psychic... which makes him more deadly than you in your new suit of armor." She stood up and stretched, walking over to Jak's com-station, "If you draw a weapon on him, he might just kill you before you fire a shot. So I think we might want to try a diplomatic method... and if that fails, I have a few traps specifically designed for people like him.
"First thing's first though, I'm going to need to see those ship designs of yours. After all... this is still an experimental ship." She said, giving him a sly wink. "If we can convince him of that, then we could get him to back off because he honestly doesn't have the authority to do anything with that. Sage, though, we can 'invite' in to look around, since she is the daughter of a politician and thus important.""

The words echoed in Jak's head, each one of them bouncing of the edges of his skull and colliding with the others. Powerful. Trigger Happy. Psychic. Jak smiled inside his legionnaire helm. He found a friend. His ears only half-heard the rest of Fenix's talk about a diplomatic approach.
"Yeah, yeah. You do that. In the meanwhile, I'm going to test the disguise capabilities of this suit and go say 'howdy'."
Jak simply stampeded through his own ship, making it very clear that nothing Fenix could say or do would change his mind at this point. He walked out of his ship and quickly noticed a craft that wasn't there before. Not hesitating even for a second, the Akhari walked over to it and thumped on the door.
"Huntress Shasnavi Virennak aka 'Sage'! Open up in the name of the Imperial Forces!"

She almost sighed and hit her head against the wall. But that would be a waste of a good head, so instead Fenix pulled up the data plans and pulled the suit out of her bag. "Blasted... Akhari... gun happy... Argh!" She mumbled, getting fully dressed and equipped as her helmet downloaded the information stored in Jack's com station and through that his mother board. "Most likely going to get himself killed and force me to move to a new sector just as I was getting settled in..." When the helmet beeped she picked it up and put it on, opening up a display that held a busload of new information on the ship as she walked back to the chairs and sat down. Might as well wait and hope that the hunters didn't decide to blow the ship up, and that Jak just wanted to invite the other sociopath over for drinks...

Dorian lowered the ship's ramp with a grumpy look on his face.
- this is why they shouldn't allow legionnaires to drink.- He said to himself. The legions although composed of super soldiers, they weren't the top tier of command, and Hunters used to command squads of legionnaires in the most dangerous missions. But Dorian did take a look deeper into the mind of this "legionnaire". It wasn't what he expected. Dorian could not properly describe what he felt. this wasn't a normal legionnaire. they were brainwashed to be completely loyal to the empire and execute any order, no questions asked. the person wearing this suit was nearly anarchic. obsessed with destruction. of any kind. and hatred for the empire.
- Sage.- He adressed the comm- I think we found our VIP. Well, state your business here uhm... trooper.- He said feeling a bit stupid.

Jak's eyes narrowed under the helm. Based on the human rebels he saw, this one was male. According to Sage's recording she was a female. So that must be her psychotic partner. Jak looked him over. He had a good built and some signs of hard-fought battles. Initially, the absence of proper armor disappointing the Akhari warrior, but he decided quickly that Dorian must be the kind of crazy man who prefers to add another element of danger and fight without protection.
Jak grabbed a hand blaster from the compartment on his hip and quickly raised it upwards, without pointing it at Dorian yet.
"Dorian Hawken, I presume? You are accused of excessive destruction and unnecessary murder on multiple accounts. What do you have to say for yourself?"

- Don't bullsh!t me with this. You're no Legionnaire. your mind doesn't work like theirs. You're just a lucky motherf£$%er because I know that toadies won't send anyone else, so we all have to dance to your flute. quit this bullsh!t.
- HEY! THERE WILL BE NO VIOLENCE HERE! StOP IT YOU TWO.- Sage shouted as she ran towards Dorian
- I ain't done nothing. Yet.- Dorian's arm reached for a holster with several throwing knives. the weakspot of Legionnaire armor, as well as most heavy armors was in the neck joints.
- STOP IT. NOW.- Sage added her influencing powers to her words. It may not be effective on Dorian, but it may stop the Akhari in a modified Legionnaire armor. After all, it was one of the most powerfull personal protection systems employed in the galaxy.
- I suggest we listen to the lady.- Dorian said.- Cease the bullsh!t, and I can promise you that we'll become if not buddies, then most definetely allies.

There was a moment of silence and then Jak burst in laughter and put the blaster back.
"Spoilsport." He said to Sage, but without any apparent anger or grudge, "We were just going to have some fun, weren't we? So do you want to talk on my ship or yours? Oh, and before we go on you've got to tell me: did you know who I was because you're psychic or because my armor gave it away? See, if it's the latter I will have to kill the person who made it for me and that would be a pity, because I kinda like her. Still, certain principles have to be maintained so..."

- Your thoughts betray you easily.- Dorian said.- A legionnaire doesn't think like that. If I order one of those f"£$ers to jump off a bridge, they'd march in and do it. You can fool the f£$%ing commoners just by your armor, even the psychic ones. but not Hunters who had commanded a squad on more then one occasion.
- Let's discuss in your ship- Sage said.- Rarely we get the occasion to board a genuine akhari vessel.

Dorian and Sage looked at eachother, questioning the motives of this particural akhari, then followed Jak to his ship. then again, this was the only akhari that appeared somewhat friendly. Others that the duo encountered were space pirates. most of the part.

So apparently they hadn't killed each other. Huh. Fenix stepped back from the window and put on her helmet, leaving her untouched brandy on the table as she sat back down on the couch. Maybe the psychic wasn't quite the sociopath she had assumed? In any case, she made sure to disarm the traps. She then picked up the schematics for one of Jak's Akhari rifles and began memorizing them.

Jak walked the two Hunters into the ship. As the ships door closed behind them he removed his helm, revealing his yellow head with green eyes, and threw it on the table.
"Welcome to the 'Berserker' - my home outside my home. Have a sit, grab a drink, etc. etc... That's like the third time I've said it the past two days. I'm having too many guests lately... Speaking of which, meet my local Evolon blacksmith."
He walks over to a bar, grabs a couple of different bottles and enough glasses for everyone, puts it all on the table and then slumps on the sofa beside it.

Fenix didn't speak, she just nodded silently at Sage and Dorian, studying them. Well if they wanted to talk that was all fine enough, but the Evolon had once had to deal with psychics before, and it had been an interesting assassination to be sure. The trick was to find something that interested you enough that they just couldn't get around it. Like, say, Fenix's ship catalog. What would she need to replace after today's venture? Hmmm... probably a few mousetraps, one of her security cameras would need some new video feed, her sucker stash was getting rather low lately...
Now the difficulty with this technique came from having to be able to make that your primary thought as you kept your real thoughts as mere background information. For instance, Fenix noted that Dorian was still armed and that Sage was as well, though much more lightly. Did she just not need weapons? She could most likely pacify others with just her mind...

"No ashtrays here. I don't smoke. It's bad for your health. I hear it can even kill you eventually. It takes years, naturally, in the course of which your body is taking constant damage. It's like a very slow and inefficient torture technique if you think about it. I wonder what would happen if someone should intentionally speed up the process..." Jak's eyes glazed over as he appeared to stare into space. He snapped out of it a moment or two later, "Anyway, there are a couple of skulls on the shelf over there. From the times I get really bored. They'll make fine ashtrays. Help yourself. On second thought, take one with you as a memento, I'm sure I can get more." The Akhari took a sip from his drink, moved on the sofa to get a bit more comfortable and continued, "Oh, I almost forgot. You asked about my intentions. Well, I met up with the Rebels intending to rip the Empire apart. Then I found out that the Rebels spend all of their time talking, debating, arguing... you know, wasting time. I was told that a field operative might be of more use. Are you?"

One of the skulls flew into Dorian's hand. He litted up the cigar and began smoking.
- the f£$%ing Imperial lab rats had found cures to most forms of cancers- Dorian said- so the term that "smoking kills" is now obsolete phrase from times before the empire.
- Senator Virennak, my father- Sage began to answer Jak's question- Has appointed me, and now Dorian as well to make a jailbreak from a penal colony of Marasus.
- F£$%ing hellhole. There even the brightest are reduced to nothing but f£$^ing animals.
- The prison houses important figures, dissidents with valuable knowledge.
- I can now piece it all together- Dorian again interrupted.- So you're telling me that those pricks I shanked were some sort of important f£$^ing freedom fighters?
- You'd be even more surprised to hear what your sister used the money you sent to her...- Sage began but didn't finished, after she saw the angry look in Dorian's organic eye.
- Don't even dare mention her this way Sage. I mean it.- Dorian was angered, but somehow managed to control himself.- Anyway, we go in and bust that hole, free the valuable motherf£$%ers and I claim the head of the little cockless prick that killed Maria. All's f£$%ing nice and easy as pie. Then what?- He asked Sage.
- We do not have the armies to match the imperials in conventional war. hopefully, a successful assault on one of the Empire's most heavily guarded prison will rally more people to our cause. It all starts slow Jak, the same happened last time, when the imperials destroyed several planets to swiftly end the rebellion sparked there.
- Kinda ironic that the empire itself has born from a f£$%ing rebellion.- Dorian said.
- Never the less, we're slowly pushing things forward. the theft of Raven class fighter-interceptor as well as the defection of the whole Tri-cross corporation is a good start.

"Not exactly the party I hoped for when I picked you to be my guides, but still better than sitting here doing nothing. Besides, if that place is as heavily guarded as you claim, I might get to have some fun after all. I want to hear more about this prison and the men they send down there... But before we continue something you said reminded me of my complete lack of manners. You mentioned me by name, even though I have not introduced myself. I guess the Rebels contacted you just as my superiors contacted me. It's nice to know that there are at least a couple of people smart enough to choose the same operatives as I have chosen myself to be my partners. But, I nearly forgot the introductions again. I am Jak Copool, the "emissary" of the Akhari this side of the Galaxy. And my guest here is Fenix Artanis, blacksmith extraordinaire. Now that we get that out of the way, let's talk details."
