I gotta say I personally find the whole lore discussion quite interesting.

I think most people just get lost in the Ubi Lore with all it's common features, that they can't see the interesting parts.
Like the Orc clans, Void Cult, Civil war in the Lotus Empire etc.

In Lotus Empire? Well, there was one after H6 and before H5, but we don't know any details about it.

i'd buy an expansion featuring sanctuary and having the chance to learn more about their story. that way sanctuary would make its place in ashan more firm.

I also want to know more about the sovereign's rise to power and what became of the 6 overlords. Other than haven and a limited look at fortress and necro, we don't know much about the factions' internal affairs.

This might sound odd, but I'm already bored to tears by the campaign direction of Heroes 7 and the game's not even done yet. Just the fact that I know it revolves around Haven again... *yawn* makes me... sooo..... zZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZ.................

Even if haven campaign is 1/6 of the missions? I see no difference compared to before except there is more freedom on the timeline of other factions. Which is a good thing in my eyes.

Same here, I was kinda surprised in H6 after playing dark messiah and H5 that Kha Beleth is tears. Well considering how he turned inferno into a nation so to speak I am not surprised.

It's true the campaign is yet again around the Haven empire, it's getting nearly as repetitive as Eclipses . But from how they spoke about the campaigns so far, it looks like the non-haven campaigns could be not related to Haven empire, so it won't be only about the Haven empire.
With that said, I really hope the expansion focus somwehere else (or they pull something like H3 AB, with many, non-related campaigns focused on several factions).

Yea right. It's like a metaplot, Elvis. The story with all it's branches and everything. And this time we got Haven at its core. AGAIN! We didn't had enough with the 5 kids from hell, we needed a civil war too. And we have convenient advisors from almost each other factions, coming to tell Ivan tales about their lives. And I'm supposed to play that. ARE YOU JOKING ME. What happened to convincing individual storylines for each faction? Where did that go? I only get Haven this and Haven that? My God, the demons are coming - save Haven! Holy snow, Haven civil war! JUST GREAT! Other foreign interaction is impossible if there's no Haven. snow it.

Not counting expansions, didn't that only happen in Heroes IV? And in that game basically all campaigns ended up in the exact same route as in the factions killing their own kind. Not exactly a perfect example for decent storytelling either. Heroes V had the "we have to involve every single faction in the storyline because Warcraft 3 did that" so hopefully Heroes VII won't be as forced.

You answered your own question.
And not story of their lives but story of their factions great heroes, so maybe you will get a story about for example Wizard vs Necro war. Who knows?

This is how how I imagine the Campaign:
The shadow council sit at their table, and one after another each member starts to speak:
Oh listen Ivan, I have this story of my people form times /not so far away/ancient/long gone/ that could be of some help to you. Cut, enter the first map of that particular campaign.
Orcs telling story of how strength can hold a nation together even in the hardest of times.
Mage speaking about rivalry and understanding, how different parts of a nation must co-exist in order for the nation to flourish.
Etc,
Then Ivan stands up "Thank you all for your motivating words, I shall use your wisdom in my battle", and the final campaign begins, as he faces his rival Seamus for the crown.
This would make me happy. More or less individual stories used as a framework for the final picture, rather then as individual colores of paint in it.

@Avonu, I am talking about Metaplot. It's still "everything converges into saving Haven" scenario all over again.
@Dave, How would that make you happy?! It's the same old same old as in Heroes 6! Not to mention that you already seem to know the plot, and so does everyone else.
Oh dear.. God help Ubisoft..

heroes 6 was not about that. heroes 6 was how each faction (with a griffin brat as a leader) fared until the big battle with the faceless or smth. if it wasn't for the haven family i would like it more.
h7 is going to be a story about a faction away from haven. of course in the end yes the haven guy is in the centre.
btw what's with the russian names and the whole eastern europe vibe about haven? since putin happened i don't think that's very wise to go "russian" and it kinda paints haven with a bad color in my eyes :/
