Why does Ubisoft change the devs every game?

In h5, we had Nival, in h6, we had Black Hole and now we have Limbic. Why does Ubisoft constantly change the development team , while 3do and NWC did 4 games in a row? Is it because Ubisoft wasn't pleased with the games? Or there were other reasons?

H5- Nival and Ubi had an disagreement about the direction the game should go, so they changed devs to Blackhole.
H6- Blackhole gone bankrupte due to reasons connected to Ubi, so BH could not make H7 or even make H6 work. That's why Limbic was asssigned with this task.
H7- Limbic has a long time experience with Ubi (unlike BH) and this is the 3rd MaM game they are working on (H6 patches, M&M-X, now H7)

And actually NWC did not make games for 3DO. 3DO took NWC under it's wings as a publisher. NWC was therefor not assigned with the task to make heroes game as much as they were bought as an investment, and this investmentt was the M&M franchize that was originaly NWC's

Because that's how they do things. Ubisoft is known in the field as the "student grinder". Because they like to save a buck or two when creating a game, they always hire students and people with little experience, they charge less and they are also prone to give unpaid extra work because they're trying to make a name of themselves. Most people working for Ubisoft are usually fired after about 3 years of work.

Sorry but Black hole, and especially Nival, were no students at the time they started working on their respective game.

And I think that Limbic is working with Ubi for few years already.

it was my understanding that that was most of the gaming industry. after reading up on it, I'M not getting in the field... you can be hired just for a job, and fired right afterward. or even during, which is a load of crap.

I think that is just life, fred. Unless you've blackmailed yourself into your current job or your selfemployed, this goes for everyone in any industry. Maybe the Games-industry is somewhat more extreme in this, but basically this is the way the world works.

Well said, although it's worth reminding that NWC not only had to make HoM&M games, but also continue the RPG M&M series (M&M VI-IX).

But yes, keeping a developer through several titles is probably the best Ubi could do. That's why I hope HVII is a success and therefore Limbic could be part of H8 and use their experience with HVII.

i think certain careers are more susceptible than others, for sure. gaming is one of those fields. which is only one of the reasons why i'm avoiding it. if i wanted to continually find work all the time, i'd have been an artist. working for the city/government, you have a pretty secure job, as long as you don't do anything stupid. which is what i'd rather go for.

the issue, is finding a job within government/city that doesn't rub my sensibilities the wrong way. they have before.

*shrug*

Defend Ubi if you wish. I speak french. I've read the infamous website of the disgruntled worker back in the 1990's that created a nation wide drama in France about Ubisuck. I live in montreal and Ubibug has a shop down here, where they make Assassin's creed and Rayman. I read many comments by workers and ex workers that used to work there. Trust me, Ubisuck is a company that doesn't give a crap about it's workers or it's customers. They focus on instant money and savings rather than the long run, and they get away with it by focusing on the quantity of games rather than the quality.

Well, 2 years ago I passed by the Ubisoft quarters in Bucharest, all balconies of the 5 story building were full of people, and when I mean full, I mean at least 30 people, they were all dressed casual and drinking coffee, I mean 150 people taking a break in the same time, seriously? It was as crowded as a stadium where champion's league is played on.
