I think I've found Forge's tier 7 creature. It's some kind of mechanical scorpion south of the minotaur hero, guarding a dwelling behind a mountain.

They're pretty clearly based on the Seeker Droid line of creatures from MM7, who were found in the final 'dungeon' of that game though by context not strictly unique to there. That would make them appropriate for tier 7, of course.

Thanks for clarification, I've never played might and magic series, only heroes.

Now we are only missing ogres with rocket launchers and jet pack minotaurs

(I'm not kidding, the MM7 one especially reminds me of a dino)

Can you say something about the campaign ? What will be the plot of the Forge and the palace ? How about the difficulty level or will the missions be challenging ?

@BrutalAXE

Do it, if you like the world of MM and have some time to chill in it.
Personally, I have been enjoying MM6-8 together with a friend and by using a multiplayer mod. It's quite fun for me, but I do understand that MM is a retro game and not everyone might vibe with it.

@Opera

Regarding difficulty level, you can check my reply in the middle of page 21. Story-wise, first of all we want to "bring back" what NWC scrapped and would have done, namely the Armageddon's Blade campaign, but with the Forge. In fact, the story on the side of the Forge was to be significantly different from the story on the side of Inferno and Xeron, as would have been various flavors and details on the "good" side. However, this does not mean that we do not want to develop the Forge further and give it a place in the main timeline through future campaigns: we just intend to "complete" NWC's work first.
In terms of Palace's campaign, it will explain several intriguing facts found in the canon, including Adelaide's story and Gelu's origins. It takes place before Catherine was a queen herself. More on it later, and while the storyline itself might be a bit unexpected at first, it is surely very solid and I for one really like how it nicely ties everything together (as I hope you too, will like it).

The only hope I have for the plot is that you would not pull a HOTA and hide it behind endless "effective game pro-player"  step-counting AI-wrangling-20-hour-battled dreck.

The leader and a good amount of the team members are against such a thing, so it will not be the case. It's only after extensive discussions that it was accepted that only the highest difficulty level could be like that, as it is, well, meant to be the most challenging, and whoever would tackle it would do so for the gameplay and "fame" anyway. In other words, lower difficulties are most likely akin to the original campaigns in difficulty, and only the highest one has various "boni" to make it harder (and even if the map itself would be tailored in its structure to match a difficult map, that can easily be amended for lower difficulties with the usage of pandora boxes, quest guards as well as scripts).

I am very curious how you will continue to run new stories for the Forge after the events of Armageddon since Gelu was supposed to destroy the entire Forge and end its storyline.

Is it possible to find out what Greg Fullton said more about the Forge and showed what the internet and us mere mortals cannot see ?

Do you already have a map maker in your team ? The maps will be more in the level of detail like Hota or maybe NWC ?

Anyway Thank You for answers and I can't wait for the release and the campaign

Thank you <3
(I was not badmouthing HOTA, I like it, just not that entire decision)

Opera, Fullton would gladly talk to anybody who writes him (even in crude English), I do not think anything he knew is a secret by now.

Some guesses:
Image
1. This creature looks likely to be the base version of a creature seen in the January 6th update - similar appearance and same kind of short sword, but less armoured and with less fancy clothing, and using the base-creature standard orientation right. It looks like it could be a Dark Elf, but whatever it is it is clearly a relatively normal humanoid, and not the unknown-name town's default tier 1.
2. This might be said tier 1. While the cap doesn't look exactly identical to the one seen in the January 6th update (which we know showed all default base tier 1), that might be the result of graphical iteration since then (had it been oriented left I would have guessed it to be the upgraded tier 1).
3. I have some feeling this might be 1's creature dwelling, though this is an extension of some loose architectural similarities and assumptions about the creature. On the flip side, it might look too fantastical for such a mundane-looking creature.
4. This looks much like a Patrol Unit from MM6, but with spikes and no visible 'pod'. Given the orientation, likely an upgraded creature - perhaps a Forge alternate?
5. While not much of a guess, technically I suppose it hasn't actually been confirmed that in DoR this is the Paladin as an alternate Castle creature.

@Opera

Still, there are actually several possibilities, beyond simply activating a Heavenly Forge like in MM7. As for what the final one which the team will settle on will be, we'll see.

As Mefista said, Gregory Fulton is quite open when asked directly. Otherwise, there was in fact not much more about the Forge that he did not say before: he publicly shared his disdain of most of NWC's Forge assets on numerous occasions, and he wasn't alone on that (he also shared the aspects he believes the town screen should incorporate), most of everything concerning campaigns on a general level, as well as various other details. In other words, as disappointing as it might be, there is no "top-secret" NWC Forge material that was never talked or shown before (unless, by some miracle, some of the WIP static renders of higher tier NWC Forge creatures would show up).
The only things that the community hasn't seen in regards to Gregory Fulton and the Forge would probably be his feedback for the DoR Forge.

Yes, we already have a mapmaker in the team. In fact, the last promotion was the first promotion screenshot where his map-work is shown (even if he was in the team ever since last year). As for that question, I cannot answer it reliably - it is best to see the final result, even if our aim is as high as possible (however, at least NWC level is mandatory, no question about it; the mapmaker has to have at least that level, and he thankfully has proved it already to team).

@Mefista

You're welcome!

I understand. To be honest, now talking about myself (and not the DoR team), I personally like the fact that HotA's campaigns are challenging as they are. However, I am not a fan of the fact that lower difficulty levels are not very playable by casual players.... but at least the Crew began to mend that starting with 1.7.1.

Haven't seen anyone mention these yet:

Most likely they're just re-themed mines to go with Forge's new terrain, but there's some possibility that they're a new type of mine entirely. Even if they are just re-themed, that's still pretty cool, especially the Sulfur Dune which is the only mine that looks the same on every terrain.

Also, if it's not too early to ask, what is the lore behind the mystery third faction? I assume it's something from Jadame like Cove and Factory are (dark elves if I had to guess), but I'm curious if that can be confirmed.

I don’t think it’s that but I was thinking that it would be kind of neat if the mines changed appearance when they are guarded (like with the eyes in the Crystal Cavern).

First: Thanks to Firepaladin/DoR-Team for this update! It looks very interesting and like we‘ll soon get a great mod.

I don‘t think that the yellow lights in the crystal cavern are eyes of any creature. For me both mines look like a terrain specific variant. I think the „eyes“ could be electric lights that enlight the mine shaft. This would fit for the technology of old screen shots of the Forge town.

The theme of the third town is still a suprise of course. But my first thought was also about dark elves. It was because of the colors and the mushrooms around the castle which reminded me of the dark elves from HoMM 5. But the mushroom-headed creature down left, which could be associated to the town, doesn‘t really look like a dark elf. Well, I think we‘ll get a few more hints or answers soon.

The mushroom-headed creature down left doesn't look like a dark elf, indeed, but while Jadamean dark elves aren't mushroom or underground-associated, they are a fairly cosmopolitan lot and easily rub shoulders with a wide variety of sorts.

We do know one thing about the third town beyond the imagery seen:

There is also some lore which implies the existence of subplanes or additional planes, if I'm not wrong (I have been a major designer only on the Forge and Palace, but only a visual designer on the third faction, with which this deep lore relates), so we tried to explore that.
