You mean the international rules with the round ball and the soccer goals. If so i think its a bit unfair because we don't kick with a round ball and icedragon the roos beat your team.

Personally I can't stand aussie rules.
Stupid bloody game, kick the ball to a bunch of guys who jump all over each other to get to the ball.
You can even climb up the back of someone to mark the ball for a free kick but if you miss the ball then it's a free kick to the other side, work that one out ROFL!
If you kick the ball out on the full it's a throw in by the ref but if they think you might have done it on purpose it's a free kick to the other side LMAO!!
I mean come on what sort of rules are these? Did they pick them out of a hat?
Don't get me started on the STATS.
They have just intoduced a new stat called Clangers ROFLMAO!!!
As far as I can work out Clangers are for bad kicks or something ROFL!
The commentators on the ground are called Boundry Riders LMAO! they must of stayed up all night for that one

I could keep going but I haven't got all night heh heh

It just keeps getting better and better.

Anyway that's my opinion on aussie rules.

What "you" australians needs to do is to get your best players to play the World Cup qualifyers. Once you understands the feeling of being a part of a World cup in real football you will understand what sports is all about.

And with players like Mark Bosnich, Craig Moore, Brett Emerton, Harry Kewell and Mark Viduka you should atleast give your WC oppīs a great challenge. From what ive heard there also are some very promising youngsters from Australia, i heard that Newcastle have some on trials now for example.

Would be kewl too see ya in WC in germany in 4 years...

You might not have listened sir stiven but we are not actually talking about soccer or as you would probably call it football but we are actually talking about a game called aussie rules(It is the title of the thread if you bothered to read it).

The reason you limited intellect soccer fans dont like aussie rules is because you dont understand it. Quite simply its the most exciting, the fastest, the most physical, the most skillful game on the planet. A game of Aussie rules between 2 great teams (one has to be collingwood hehe) has so much excitement, so dynamic with much toing and froing and such skill its amazing on blokes that are from 5'5" to 7'2"

Man I would trade this game for anything else...soccer is a massive yawnfest just like cricket, baseball, american football and especially rugby(ugh) and any other game you can name. I just cant really begin to describe the comparison...oh hang on yes Ican, THERE IS NONE

tis a native game Stefan, remembering that Australian rules really is only about 100 years old, and even less so in its modern form. Its an adaptation of Gaelic football invented by the first settlers when they were dropped off in the 18th century. Australia was so isolated, the last thing they exported were their sports for such a long time. It evolved and evolved into the magnificent modern game we see now.

Soccer on the other hand is biblical, played in europe/asia/africa which formed the basis for modern man. Soccer was first played in Japan from about 1000bc! Soccer was played in ancient Rome, and made it to the British Isles in around 1100AD. The British being who they were, and the Romans, being who they were exported it everywhere, from a very early stage. Now is this an argument? or a lesson in History and anthropology If its an argument, come up with something better.

yes history of a sport is important.

But also remember that many sports which isnt to old have "made it" lately.

So even if i understand your point RychenHistoryTellerRoller i dont agree with it because IMO if "football - aussie rules" version had been so good then it would have made it worldwide or atleast some more nations.

Well, I'm not a big fan of AFL (considering that I'm from Sydney, where Rugby League is the order of the game here) but we do have our own AFL team called the Sydney Swans. They are currently fifth on the ladder.

Yes, Rychen, I know you are from Melbourne, so I'm expecting that you probably were a big AFL fan.

Port havent shown anything in finals and thats where it counts. Collingwood fixed em up in last years finals and they went home from Brisbane the next week crying with their tail between their legs. They also lost to Geelong(!) last round, if you are any good, you dont lose to Geelong.

Yes they are currently top, but unless they show something in the finals this year, they will just be a bunch of chokers who cant play pressure football.

Go Pies!

Hary Kewl must be yawning while he works out how to spend his A$150,000 a week for playing such a silly game.

Soccer = skill

Aussie rules = some skill, luck and stupid rules that change every year because they can't make their minds up what works and what doesn't LOL!
