Interesting thing this could be.. I have experience with *different realities* I know what the guy was going through however, I had a grasp that mabey my realities might not be real, just like your's might not be.

The main thing that *get's (evil gryn) people* today is music, and misc movies.
The movies are like matrix, pink floyd the wall, vanila sky, and thing's that dive deep into the brain questioning reality. Oh yes, and drug's lol.
Check these out to find the truth

The door's by oliver stone
matrix
nine inch nails (music)
purple micro/timmo leriy/ white shadows-whatever that is..
Talk to a cow before sunrise
Other stuff too.. Church mabey?

Then and only then will the fact's reveal themselves. There can be no known truth but "I think therefore I am" whatever I am.. I just am

Nine Inch Nails is abusive music???hmm...

Here's some movies that would fit in this row:
Strangeland
Blade (1+2)
From dusk till dawn (just 1)
Out of Africa...

I dont think anything of abusive nature would drive a guy into different reality

I do, however know for fact, that *nine inch nail's for example* has a tendency to drive people into a maze if they learn to see it.

When they see it, they dont know where their going. They think they'll find awnser's when really, they find find scattered awnser's that revolve around nothing.

What drive's someone to another reality is the question "what's real?". Watching movies like blade 1+2 would drive them a little. Not because of the abusive nature.

The reason blade 1+2 could alter ones reality is because of its twisted perception mixed with the viewers incomplete awnser

Nine inch nail's my friend is considered industrial music where in fact it is spiritual definition with a twist of hate

ANyway's.. I am a fuzzy hamster. I just die my hair black sometime's

I think that the vast majority of the cases where people consider media to be the main scapegoat in cases like these is complete bullsnow.  IMO, it's the parents that refuse to take responsibility for allowing their children to come to this.  Parents need to monitor their child's behavior in order to see if there is a problem... did they not pay any attention to major events like Colombine?

But, there are some cases where media outlets make a kid go from near-insanity to complete crazy s.o.b.  I suppose that you could put some blame on video games/movies/TVs in those kinds of situations, but nowhere near the amount that would be perceived as credible enough to limit media outlets.  The ratio of non-violent people to violent people in the realm of those people perceiving violence in media is just too high to actually ban anything IMO.

I hate morons that say games influence us, because they DON'T (at least normal people). Blaming games is just parents' unwillingness to accept responsibility.

I would say that it is pretty well known fact that everything you surround yourself with, games, music, TV-shows, friends, family, etc does influence you. Some of these has a very large influence on many peoples lifes.

But, the point is (and I believe that this is what you meant) that a mentally stable person can handle whatever negative influence he gets from games etc. without going out and killing people. A mentally unstable person on the other hand...

Speaking of Capitol punishment

Well actually killing someone in a humane and pain free way (no pointy sticks or screaming) is rather expensive. First the criminal must stay in prison for many years so if it turns out the criminal is innocent, they can release him/her. The actual killing is also prizy, you might even have to pay a whole $ or so!

Perhaps Sir_Elric would like to live in China? They have a very cost effective way of dealing with criminals. Their government even kills more people than all of the other countries put together and you don't even need to pay a $!!!
They have converted sports arenas into giant slaughter houses to save time. The criminals are lined up and told to stay on their knees and then they get a bullet in their heads. The best part is that the bullet is later send to the family with a bill! Great isn't it =)

This is a true perspective. I'm glad to see another big thinker

When it is beyond doubt it would not be expensive.

How about throwing murderers into an arena and making them fight each other, just give em basic weapons and let them go at each other (we could call them Bragiators or something). We could sell tickets and make a profit, for extra fun we could feed christians to lions or something? Its amazing no-ones done this before

No Proof

I've seen no factual evidence suggesting killers originate within an online community, video games, violent news media, or otherwise. And neither have I seen evidence supporting whether killers are simply born the way they are or molded by their own experiences. I think more research is needed to make a more sound hypothesis to the question posed.

Conserning how those researches that determine influence of images are made, I had the opportunity to read one of those in details. They exposed theit test subjects to vivid images of violence and afterwards they showed them different pics (among which one of Hilter) and gave them a toy gun. They determined their level of aggressiveness by seeing how many times they'll shoot with it. But heck, who wouldnt want to shoot Adolfs head, even if its a drawing. I dont think this kind of research is very leading to the cosequences that media/games/movies lead to.
