Poll Question:
What if HMM looked like this...?
How would you have felt if when the third or fourth game was released it would have featured a totaly new perspective for the battle, from the point of view of the hero with the option to zoom in and out? One that would look somewhat like this:
What will your first words be when you see that battle on your monitor (assuming, of course, that you frequently talk to yourself or your computer)?

just make them really, really small and bundled up. Plus you would have to zoom out to get the full view of it i think this deserves a Half QP this thread does, but thats all up to RMS since Romy, Lith, and Hexa are all on vacation- We need to save romy from Lith and Hexa! LOL

well...
I do like the fact that you can zoom. Cause I really miss the fact that Titans are still to damn small compared to Halflings. But I do not like that you see how many there are. I like it much more, the number indicator.
Imagne how it would be if 1000 sceletons or more would hit a target, would they get in line to hit someone?? No ! That is to stupid. But a zoom function would be great. It's nice to see an overview of the battle, but it's nice to see that your Titan is at least 10 times bigger than a small Halfling !

It's good, but unless the hero has the ability to fly then that would hardly be his viewpoint as he is in the middle of no-mans land so to speak. Personally a shogun sort of system seems to be what you are getting at. For heroe's views though you would need to have them either static on a hill to see the battle, or be able to move around so that they can get different aspects of it.

Shogun is awesome. Maybe, you could make it something like Sacrifice, where you center in on your main hero and fight (just for the battle) Of course, this would be that you would need to have a hero (no army w/o a hero) so that would be heroes regressing but... anyhoo, it would be more fun if you as a hero were kinda back in cheerleader mode: cast spells, direct the battle, direct creatures etc.
Maybe I'll post a piccie too... although I'd like to see Homm in 3d.

I agree with you completely. This layout is a shocker. How can this work when you have hundreds of creatures in your army?

It's cool, but I see more of a warcraft likeness to make sence to it. Its definately not homm style battle, but its sweet none the less.
