This concept art that Ubisoft is introducing to Homm. How will they integrate this art into 3D graphics?
If you can rotate the view around an archer, then how will it show the archer look different?
In other games in the past, I've seen this done quite poorly. It looked like a page was turned showing a different picture of the person. How smoothly and life-like will the changes in view be?

i'm such a slow-witted person.. what do they mean, is it real-time 3d graphics or just sprites that are pre-rendered in 3d.
as far as i understand, the angel seems to consist of more or less basic geometric shapes, so maybe it could be rendered real-time with reasonable quality. on the other hand, i guess geometric shapes make it easier to draw the initial model in the case of pre-rendered graphics, either.

Hi to ToH and happy new year !
It's been a while since I answered posts here.
Basic game structure : will be kept.
Online : we are planning a lot of different things here !
3D : once again this is going to be a normal 3D game, I'm sure you have seen how it works

Any news (update perhaps?) on that Random Map Generator?
It's what keeps drawing me back to HOMM III.

With the introduction of a.o. resources, heroes, armies, and units that only one tribe can build, the game Civilization III by Firaxis made several steps in the direction of Heroes of Might and Magic.
Can we expect HoMM V to be closer to Civ than HoMM IV, for instance in the area of researching advances in magic and weapons?
Is there, perhaps, an 'ideal' strategy gameplay where the two will eventually meet? (Obviously the opposing backgrounds - fantasy v historic - will always be there, right?)

I heard rumors that HOMM 5 will be "futuristic" if you know what I mean...
What can you tell me abiut towns? Same old, or some futuristic towns inspired from "Star Wars - Attack of the Clones"?
Thanks

It's rather hard for a classical HOMM3 player to get used with new type of character. If HOMM5 will not take into consideration the mythology will be a failure

Hiya ! At last I have some time to tour the communities
Hum its a bit difficult finding real questions, that I can answer to, or that have not been answered to already.
Graphics : I think the sketches sent so far give a good view of the style we are aiming for.
Futuristic : never heard these rumors.
And a special note to people who sometimes dont understand why I say things in a strange manner. Please refer to the corresponding threads, in previous posts. "I'm certain you will probably understand"

I think the sketches I've seen are very good!
Innovation is the key, right?
I'm definately going to buy the game anyway.
When do you think we can see some more pics, even screenshots?

I have a question about the "make-up" of the game. Are there going to be animations connected with certain buildings (like the tavern animation in homm3)?
And, another one pls. Is there any definite decision about the town/spell/skill system? Is it too late for new ideas and proposals?

That is not necesarilly a bad ideea, counting on the fact that, let's say, Disciples 2 had different spells for each race, but it was a good implemented magic system. If Ubisoft wishes to do the same, I must warn them, it's a tricky thing, the spells must be well balanced and wel diversified.

Questions to Ubisoft
Well, at this point, it appears to be ‘Questions to Fabrice Cambounet’, because I don’t see any other Ubisoft representatives showing themselves on the message boards, at least, not to my knowledge.
I may have a few more questions than those prior to my posting have asked, and if only a portion of these enquiries can be answered, then I would be incredibly appreciative.
I have organised the questions into areas so that they may be easier to follow.
Towns
What is the approximate number of towns that the team at Ubisoft have thought of?
Are there any towns based solely on one category, such as an entirely aquatic town, or and entirely desert town?
What advantages will 3D provide to the town screen?
Have there been thoughts on diversifying town build-up?
Does the basic structure of City Hall = Gold and Castle = Defense remain?
Will the terrain the town lies upon still change in the town screen (like Heroes IV)?
What sort of relationship will the towns have? E.g. Opposite alignments, morale depletion, etc.
Will the towns have limitations associated with spells, mage guilds, and what heroes are available?
Have there been thoughts of mini-towns like hamlets/villages/fortresses?
Adventure Map
Does the rotational feature apply to the adventure map? It is sometimes difficult to decipher what object lies behind the trees in Heroes IV.
Do the wandering guards make a return?
Are there any discussions about the landscape being more interactive?
How will the rotatable camera become beneficial to the perspective of the adventure map? Will it still have the pseudo-diagonal/aerial view available?
Will the sizes of castles and other larger objects like mountains become more realistic or less realistic (in size)?
Relating back to interactive landscape, will castles and other adventure map structures actually be able to be placed on top of mountains, like a hillside fortress?
Do creatures have the capability to roam the adventure map on their lonesome?
Battlefield
How will the new 3D perspective affect battles? What does it add aside from a graphical update?
Will creature sizes be represented realistically?
In previous interviews, we have been able to conclude that the battlefield is now scrollable, can you confirm this?
Will the zoom option be available during combat?
How big a part will the landscape play in combat, aside from the general obstacle?
What ideas have you for siege representation? I feel it has always appeared slightly obscure.
What of Line of Sight, damage calculation, realistic retaliation? Will they be left unaltered?
Have you thought about war machines, First aid tents, ‘specialist’ heroes, etc?
The perennial question: Will Heroes be in combat, and in what capacity?
Creatures
Do you expect creatures numbers to rise or fall?
Is creature upgrading more beneficial for the game, why/why not?
Were you a fan of the Heroes II upgrade system?
Are levels still viable, in your opinion?
How many creatures to you expect to have per town?
Will creatures be grouped according to their native landscape, or another parameter?
Do the neutral creatures add anything to the Heroes series? Likewise with elementals?
What is your opinion on the creatures added in the Heroes IV expansions?
Miscellaneous
Many have said (including myself) that 3D is a superfluous addition to the series. The reason being that none of the fundamental Heroes elements requires the third dimension to work. So why, then, insert 3D into a game which copes very well without it?
Did you like the art style of Heroes II?
What sparked the change of the Heroes art style?
Will you rehire the musical team of Rob King, Paul Romero, and Steve Baca?
Will the spell schools be grouped in accordance with their alignment?
What changes do you envisage for skills and the way in which heroes learn them?
Many thought that the experience gaining system for Heroes in Heroes IV was flawed, especially in the later levels, do you agree?
What is most important to you in the Heroes series: Towns, Adventure Map, Combat Map, Creatures, Heroes, Spells, or Skills?
And lastly, of course, the principal question, will the venerable and revered Hydras return in Heroes V?
Thanks for taking the time to read all of these 42 questions.

-A manual which contains a explanation of scripting and building a good homm map. And the abillity to make homecooked heroes (portrait and alignment(This feature was not in homm4)).
-And the feature in homm3 where it was possible to upgrade all creaturs.
-And mix artifact's to make powerfull artifacts or combinations of artifacts.
-Maybe more creatures. Either 3 creature dwelling's at the same creture lvl.
Eg: lvl 4 creature dwelling: You may either buy blackdragon dwelling, hydradwelling or Blackrider.
