Random Template Restrictions

I found myself in the zone over the weekend ready to play a 2 vs 2 allied game with a random template.  I had Jebus as my current template in use, but everyone wanted to play a new template.  I went to the toh maps page and downloaded Extreme and Extreme II.  After replacing Jebus with Extreme, I set up the parameters, everyone chose their hero and castle, and I launched the game.... only to find out that the map will not create with the current selections.  After changing the parameters on several different occasions (map size including under or no under, castle type, hero type, etc...), we were unable to get a game going with the template and ultimately reverted back to Jebus.

What am I missing?  I tried to follow any guidelines provided with the template at the toh site (ex. Extreme only states L or XL only).  Is there a different solution for each template or 1 solution for all templates?

Thanks in advance for any help

Extreme and Extreme II are set to be played ONE vs ONE only.
If u want to play that template 2vs2, u would have to change a lot of settings in the template. First of all, there are only set 2 starting areas, so u should add 2 more. But now, all the connection settings are not valuable anymore, so u have to add some more and change the others....u have to add all informations for the 2 additonal starting areas like "terrain, monster strength, towns restrictions and so on....and u have to add 4 more areas aswell, coz every starting area has 2 more adjacent areas as well.
So u see, u have to make a new template to get this thing going.

If u want a 2vs2 which is not as rich as jebus, but similar arrangement, than try "Vortex".

Have fun

Thanks for the clearification.  I have my hands full trying to learn to play the game at a higher level let alone trying to recreate a random template... I think I will just choose from what is already out there  I don't mind so much the richness of Jebus, but the unbalance...now after looking at the decriptions of extreme and extreme II, I don't think they were much better in that respect. 1 player may have 2 topes and 1 or 2 level 6 or 7 dwellings, while the other has 0 topes, 0 dwellings and a couple dragon fly huts.

No random is really balanced, but on Extreme and Extreme II, u have one speciality, which u donīt have in others:

There is ONE big treasure area where u probably meet your opponent (like jebus), but also EVERY player has an OWN smaller treasure area (also desert terrain), where he will find relics, dwellings and topes, so itīs much easier to balance out the stuff of the starting area.
In jebus, u wonīt balance out much, coz u meet in treasure zone week 3 (or 4) and all u have is all u got out of YOUR area.....

Extreme is for builders and slow players. Jebus can give an extra advantage to fast movers.
I like extreme better

I encountered a strange problem last night..
I wanted to play the panic template, but after hiting end turn day 1 the msg "Congratulations! You have defeated ....Victory is yours!" appeared.
I tried generating different size maps, but it remained the same!
The problem i can think of was maybe i edited something in the text file while checking Kerberos interview with a vampire(made on that template), so i downloaded it again from toh this morning.Surprise! i got the same msg!
I don't have any problems playing other templates, only this one!
What may be the problem?

feel like tossing woock?
Don't get me started, please!
Better get yourself a tossbeer down in the tavern, i'm not in the mood for an argument here!
@Edit: Better put that beer on my bill, you were right!
I'm such a dumb*** sometimes loll!
@edit no 2: The fact is that even when selecting the right amount of players as Angelito shown below, it still didn't work, cos when i pressed "i" (before ending my turn) i was the only player(although i selected 2 players in the begining), and the template generated was "test"(the one i tried to make). It seems that accidentally i saved my template under the name of "panic", and the new one i downloaded hasn't replaced the old one!
Problem solved!
Sorry for getting so fired up in here!
The beer thing is still on, Woock!

To be honest, i had the same idea when i first read your post. Perhaps u only forgot to set a computer opponent at the start of the random settings.
Like: "Human or Computer players = 1", "Computer only players = 0"....

Did that sometimes myself...needed 3 tries to realize it...lol

Randoms truly tests your skills in the game.
FIxed maps theres no skill but to see who can rush the map first or who can beat on the Hoarde of devils the fastest.
Memorizing maps is just boring.

Randoms yuou put all the skills to test.
