Regarding the Editor: Just way too slow for nothing.
Turns out that the Editor is not so bad at making maps when it comes to RMG's side of it all.
It just takes forever to generate one and, to apply its lighting onto it.
Played a small RMG made map that is always stuck a only 2 players only(BTW). Won it within a mere 12 turns/12 days only. It attacked me on the 6th day of the 1st week of the 1st month. That is what I call: Really aggressive for a normal difficulty setting of both the AI and the map.
The speed in which I just finished this map reminds me of the Tiny maps I casually make, play and, finish in just an hour or so in Heroes 5:ToTE.
I get to say, now, that only the Editor is in a dire need of serious polishing + patching to a better usable state that it is, at this very moment, now.

There is a feeling of disappointment surrounding Heroes 7. This is not the game that should have been, nor one that fans were expecting. I had hope for this installment but it quickly faded away ever since I played the release version. Now I cannot bring myself to fire it anymore, not even once. By the looks of it, reviews, reception, general interest (or lack thereof), it seems that Heroes 7 could accurately subscribe under the definition of dead in the water. And my simple question to myself and to you all - how did it come to this?
In the beginning, when I first found out that a new game from the legendary Heroes series was under development, I felt excited. I have been playing Heroes 3, Heroes 4 and Heroes 5 ever since I was a teenager. I loved the enchanting atmosphere and the tactical gameplay, moving armies of fairy tale creatures to battle one another in a world of fantasy and adventure. It had an innocent and simple appeal that made me stick with the franchise for years. But the shine dimmed as time went on. If only Heroes 7 could rekindle that sentiment - is what I thought at first, and that hope kept me interested. Even more when I found out that the fans could express their wishes and be heard by a development team promising a fruitful collaboration. I joined the shadow council for a short period, which bore an unexpected fruit as I had the chance to meet the very people behind the game in Paris. It was an opportunity for which I am grateful. At that time I started seeing things in a different, more pragmatic light. Although the game made an impression on me at first and it felt like it had a good direction, the circumstantial sentiment waned after the event. Several flaws becoming ever more apparent led me to believe that there was limited creativity and potential involved. Yet, despite all of that, I kept on hoping for a better end and somehow convinced myself that a positive attitude would be more helpful. The moment coincided with a gesture of benevolence from the development team wanting to live up to their professed reputation of co-development and listening to the community's wishes with regards to the vampire and lich models. But everything ensuing from that point onward were only red flags. The situation at the shadow council became so acidic that tolerance and civilized conversation were not possible anymore, and what little was said and done seemed to have an insignificant impact in the end.
The release of Heroes 7 was soul crushing. If anything was but a blur at that point, a mixture of uncertainty and hope for the unknown, it became painfully clear in an instant. I gave it one hour of headaches to find a modicum of satisfaction in any of it, but the endeavor was ultimately crowned with a poetic crash. Subsequent attempts changed little, even after patches went through. I had no hope left to spare and in hindsight I felt like a fool for spending any when none was warranted. Before it even started, the long anticipated re-adventure came at an abrupt end.
Now I ask, what is there left from all this? Is it but a broken game, or maybe broken promises as well? A lesson from unfulfilled expectations and desire? The vain yearnings for what has been and might never again be? I claim more - an unforgiving and frustrating emptiness. Alas, the time has come to move on to a new adventure

Wait, you're serious! I thought you were just joking.
I mean, I don't know.. I'm not doubting Quantomas' good intentions, and I feel he's qualified too and can do anything he puts his mind to. So why wouldn't he get through with such a project?

There is a Heroes sized itch out there waiting to be scratched. Sooner or later it will be done by someone competent, be it Q or somebody else, it will happen.

I hope so as well (damn I've been waiting for a Heroes like game to appear in kickstarter long enough). But I just don't believe anymore in fan projects. Reality says that they rarely ever get done, and even more rarely hold they a bare minimum quality (HOTA por instance looks like a miracle but yet is quite smaller than a full fledged game).
I don't doubt Quantomas but he's been finishing his AI like how long? And I don't point my finger to him at all, he probably spends most of his time in the really important things like working or being with his family. That's just the way it is. On top of that, this community seems to be so divided and snowed up that I don't think it is possible to do a project like this "with" the community, pleasing them all or achieving the perfect design for a Heroes game through a general consensus (as it sounded to me).
This said, I hope the best for the project when or if it ever is started.

It must not be perfect, but endurable and enjoyable for most, even if some features can be missed here and there. For many here, H5 was a great return, as for me, it was a great let down, given that I was expecting it to continue with some added things from H4. Alas, I 'endured' H5, missing this and that, and still, not as fun as I could say that I called it a step further. It looked more like a sidestep with a fast stop at the barber shop.
