we're not gonna publish it..we're gonna make one huuuuge post

I suggest ..you guys type your section in word or something like that and send the result to one of the mods(through e-mail duhhh)..there will be a deadline of say 5 days..so if you forget to send the piece within 5 days ..well..too bad

We will have to figure when we want to do this and when the deadline can go in effect..is this possible?

lol and who is going to do that? lith? yeah right, just look at those HC profiles he and Catherine was supposed to make. Take a lesson from that instead: Dont take water over your head by taking up so much work trying to please someone just to fail to deliver and people lose faith in you.

From what i know of making newspapers and stuff it takes alot of time if you are to do it properly. Thats one thing that wasnt mentioned to start with here, when you are going to present this newspaper as so many seem to want you just dont stick it all together.

First of all you would need one person for lay out, to make up how the "newspaper" should be presented. Then you would need one person to put all things in order, you will need another person to check out all the "articles" for grammar mistakes and so on. Creating a newspaper isnt just about writing articles and then put it all together, you gotta make it look nice aswell. No one would be interested to read a 15 pages long wordfile full of text unless they are involved somehow and even if you are why be satisfied with it when you could do much much better if you just got the right persons interested. From what ive seen we could get a good newspaper going here, its obvious that many persons has good knowledge in different things. And thats what you must look for when making a newspaper.

Im sorry to say this Romana but if you are asking the members just to send their work in its not impossible that we got another "HC yearbook" thing going. Although for now it doesnt seem that too many people are excited about this anyway, my suggestion would be to start over with this and this time get people that get things to happen in control. As ive pointed out you should need atleast 3-4 people except all the article writers to get this running smoothly.

Just some advice.
Good luck anyhows

I think it is possible if the following is carried out:

Well basically get a set number of people to do the articles and set up a team of people from both the mods and members to bring the whole thing together. I think relying on one or 2 mods to edit and collate possibly 16 different peices of work is impossible. say make 1 person responsible for editing a section each (ie RL news, Jokes) and then it will be done quicker. Once they are all edited put it into a huge post (like you said) and lock the post. Then create another for discussion of it. That way whenever you want to do another one you can carry on from where you left off rather than have a load of spam and comments in between the newsletters

And once again you only see the critism romana, you dont even comment my ideas. Out of all that post you managed to see the three or four lines that involved critism. You really need to learn not to see the bad all the time, view my post again and look at it as i reckoned Hudson did concidering he mentioned all my ideas and also brought up another good point: Make one person responsible for each section and then have one person responsible over those responsible persons so to speak.

As for how to present it id say a website would be the best way to do it (thanks Pan ). Still we would need people for lay out and such things.

And Romana, once you read my post again try and figure out if i meant it for a good or bad purpose please

EDIT:
Oh and btw, that Catherine and Lith comment wasnt made as an insult in any way, i just used to show that some things take much more time than you might have anticipated and you wont be able to pull it off. From what ive heard both Lith and Cat were really busy at that time so im not saying they ignored it on purpose.

I can see the logic to a website, but it would again need more work as some of those involved in the editing may not understand HTML or how to create a site. Interesting idea though if you can get together enough people do work on it

Well they wouldnt have to either, only problem is that more people would need to work on lay out.

the textwriters wpouldn't have to know any HTML as it isn't too hard pasting an article into an HTML file.

If i was to voulenteer it would be as top person. ie the person who takes most responsibility. But i will not sign for anything now and then see everything fail because lack of commitment. First i would like a list which persons that was to voulenteer for different the different things required. for example lay out persons (knowledge how to make HTML sites is a must), people to be responsible for every section, article writers, grammar checker and so on.

Well I know naff all on HTML but would gladly edit/write for the Real Life news section that was origninally suggested. As for who is in charge overall I don't think that's completely necessary as long as the group of editors and writers and HTML guys (if needed) talk regularly with each other. If it was necessary I would suggest a mod as this would give the newsletter a bit more backing, especially if it was necessary to post it here.

From my experience of these things you always need a top person so people participating knows who to give them directions. If shared responsibility this often get messed up because of different opinions and stuff. I am not talking a dictatorship here but as far as im concerned these things goes better when one person has top responsibility but that doesnt stop rest of "responsible group" to come with ideas and say what things they think can be done better. You can see it as a group that is in top control but that group has a leader aswell.
